Gofundme for Mo

I meant it as an honest question. I have no idea what they make in Europe
I have no idea what he makes. He’s in an emergency situation and they started a gofundme, so I assume they need help. So I helped without questioning. Want me to ask his mom why he needs money?

You might have to pay a premium at this point too.

The whole thing is bizarre. Biden said an invasion is imminent a week before the attack. If memory serves me he was unequivocal. Did Ukraine intel hear differently? The last minute scramble to get out, particularly among those with means, makes little sense to me. It's tantamount to hearing a hurricane is coming yet waiting for it to make landfall to act

Saw an article where he hadn't been paid "fully" since December. Hasn't been in touch with the US Embassy. Hope they take some women and children with them, and are ready to walk when traffic gets clogged. Any border will do - and they need to LOOK like refugees.

PS - the fact that Russian troops aren't targeting refugees is another fact indicating Putin is not in "100% war" mode. Hope everybody who wants out can get out.

Unfortunately, many westerners in Ukraine thought there is no way Putin invades. I think because the Ukranians thought this won't happen. So westerners thought if the Ukranians think this is an impossibility then what is there to worry about? I watch a vlogger called bald and bankrupt. Was interviewing people... No one thought this was possible.

The team told them if they left they would not have jobs left later. They were still playing until fairly recently. You should look up his interview on Fox.

Yeah true. That said I was referring to the masses with cars and the ability to get out who waited.
Creek says his team - apparently like everybody else over there - REALLY didn't believe there would be any attack.

"We are shocked - SHOCKED - to find that Putin is forcibly getting the USSR band back together."

When a dictator says something - believe him.

Hitler WILL get him some living rooms.

Putin WILL re-build the USSR.

He has someone working with him now, not sure if she is from Embassy or not. Said she was crying tears of joy at getting him out.

In 1968, a group of students from the college where my dad taught were caught in Czechoslovakia when the Russkies invaded. Scary stuff. They eventually got out OK, and learned about the Iron Curtain in real time.

Most came back with a new view about US involvement in South Vietnam.

Years later, in 1975, @Rockport Zebra wound up in the Army, guarding the German/Czech border - watching Russian officers control Czech soldiers. Me and Mom visited in December 77, and asked about the bullseye target on the parade ground. They said "if nuclear war breaks out, our life expectancy is 20 seconds - we don't want them to miss."

In 1980, I voted for Reagan.

Great! I am glad he is getting out , a 6-7 or whatever black dude is going to stand out over there and I am not unsympathetic to his plight, but it was his own doing. I hope he has a plan besides playing BBall in the Ukraine because he hasnt got much time left. I'd rather send gofund money to a family that's house burned and have nothing or similar situation that a professional athlete , I mean he had to be making more than living expenses , to help with a poorly thought out decision. I don't wish him any harm but Id have had my ass on a plane weeks ago. If they haven't pd him since Dec why stay anyway?

Yet you actually seem totally unsympathetic to his plight. Stunning surprise.

Can you read? Did you attempt to read what I said? I'm not sending money to a professional athlete that got themselves in a bad spot, sympathy yes. Sadly he likely doesnt have much beyond basketball. I can totally see you as trying to make a splash and send money for this but when average Joe or Joanne in your own town just had their house burn down or some other really bad situation shrug it off and go try and indoctrinate your unfortunate students on liberalism 101. Yes he went to IU for a bit.............did you read when I said Tom Crean could send the money, afford it and likely owes it to him from contracts? You are a real hero worshipper.

Yes I can and did. And I’ll just say that your words just reinforce exactly what I think of you. But I don’t go and try and ruin every single thread calling people names like you do. And if I had to guess who would have ruined this thread, well, congratulations! You win!!

I apologize for some of the heinous responses here. Absolutely embarrassing and classless.

A significant part of their comp is housing and board. Mo is leaving everything behind and the cost for a ride to a border is high. I am told that Mo helps support family here and he will have no job and no team to return to.

Go donate.

The Ukrainian Super League seems pretty borderline. Here's a 2015 article about Cameron Rundles:

Sounds like they make about $50K. Not a lot.

But, a guy like Mo Creek put himself in that position. If that's his best basketball hope at his age it would seem like maybe doing something else might have been in order. If you're so intent on playing a kids game well into adulthood that you need to play in such a place, well that's sort of on you. I won't fault anyone for sending money to the guy, but no way I would do that.

But, I'm a bit of an asshole.

You really need to consider a therapist and perhaps some prescriptions. All you have done is reinforce what I said and think of you. I can't even imagine having to endure you an hr a day for a whole yr. Great , Are You sending money to a ukranian underground RR to get black basketball players out? Do you care about families that are losing everything over there ? Maybe your money could be better spent. He was a good player, OK ...........did you adopt him and if you did you sure as hell should have given him better advice. So I see he was making 50k a yr? Not bad for a lot of people . It just makes no sense. You should hire an action movie group with a helicopter and bust him out. Again I have nothing against him and hope he gets out but its a ridiculous situation. You want to do something email Tom Crean

In normal situations, I might agree, but I don’t think I’ll blame Mo for a war breaking out and him getting stuck. I think that seems to me like an emergency that would be difficult to plan for.

You truly have issues.

Yeah I hear ya. It's hard to give up playing tho. Even for $50k in Ukraine. Sucks. In his defense I trust he never expected this to happen. He was just living his life how he wanted to live it; likely knowing there's always opportunities in the game back home when his step is gone
