I'm not saying he didn't need help nor deserved help, but I don't think it's unreasonable to question it. And you simply could have diffused the thread by acknowledging it may seem a little odd, but in this life and death situation for a former IU player, your were giving him the benefit of the doubt and donated. Instead, you became snarky and combative, which led to a sparky and combative response to you. And so it began, again, like 90% of the threads devolve into, a tit for tat.

No you didn't respond to Mac's post initially. You added a snarky comment to Cray and possibly Mac before you posted a response to Mac, likely only replying to him in a civil way after you realized his questions were genuine and not critical of Mo. My remark was to Cray and I don’t know why I respond to him. I guess I’ve read too many stories of players and the conditions in many other countries. Also have read that the top stars get a very competitive salary but many others do not.

To be fair, he was already in a vehicle on the way to the border by the time most people responded to this thread. It was never really about money to "Save Mo." He was already on his way to safety. It was about whether anyone felt that compensating the Creek family for their financial losses was something people felt was worthy.

Great! I am glad he is getting out , a 6-7 or whatever black dude is going to stand out over there and I am not unsympathetic to his plight, but it was his own doing. I hope he has a plan besides playing BBall in the Ukraine because he hasnt got much time left. I'd rather send gofund money to a family that's house burned and have nothing or similar situation that a professional athlete , I mean he had to be making more than living expenses , to help with a poorly thought out decision. Sounds like they make about $50K. Not a lot.

But, a guy like Mo Creek put himself in that position. If that's his best basketball hope at his age it would seem like maybe doing something else might have been in order. If you're so intent on playing a kids game well into adulthood that you need to play in such a place, well that's sort of on you. I won't fault anyone for sending money to the guy, but no way I would do that.

But, I'm a bit of an asshole.

I figured they made more than what it appears , so I see a dbl edged sword of logic. If you are only making 50k to live in a foreign country that you don't really speak the language or fit in. Why would you have stayed? If you made 200k and had some banked again why would you stay. I just thought it was a lousy excuse for a go fund me that I wouldn't give 10 cents to any of in that manner. I am sure someone is making $$$ off of that. Ask me for help personally and I may , or give you actual help I can give vs handing out money. Didn't he end up graduating from GW? He should have better options than playing basketball in the Ukraine for 50k a yr. It would actually be nice if we had a better system for lower tier players like Hockey. Are the FW Komets still around? It would seem we could support a local system with cheap tickets , a place to go for night out . Watch some still great players even without the NBA level and be able to afford it and players still get pd.

How I treat people? You don't know shit about me . When we had terrible flooding here 4 yrs ago and my college prof friend was losing his house I didn't start a go fund me page . I called people I knew and had 2 crews of guys with trucks sandbagging , pumps running to keep water out of his electric panel. He had damage but his house would likely have been condemned . I could have started a Go fund Me for the aftermath or I could have called in all my resources and taken care of the situation in real time when the job needed done. I didn't hold it all back but I kept it back until it went back down quickly. It was the Alamo for a day . You want to tell me what you know about me?

Tells all of the horrors and i'm thinking I have even less sympathy . I'm glad he wasnt hurt and apparently is in Romania at Nadia Comenche's house at the moment .
