Goat Finally Had a Good Idea - Best Single Lyric in a Song

I think this song pertains to the times we are living in and it is over 40 years old. Hank Jr. must have known something?

The preacher man says it's the end of time
And the Mississippi River, she's a-goin' dry
The interest is up and the stock market's down
And you only get mugged if you go downtown

I live back in the woods you see
My woman and the kids and the dogs and me
I got a shotgun, a rifle and a four-wheel drive
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

I can plow a field all day long
I can catch catfish from dusk 'til dawn (Yeah)
We make our own whiskey and our own smoke too
Ain't too many things these old boys can't do
We grow good-ole tomatoes and homemade wine

And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
Because you can't starve us out and you can't make us run
'Cause we're them old boys raised on shotguns
We say grace, and we say ma'am
If you ain't into that, we don't give a damn

We came from the West Virginia coal mines
And the Rocky Mountains, and the western skies
And we can skin a buck, we can run a trot line
And a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

I had a good friend in New York City
He never called me by my name, just Hillbilly
My grandpa taught me how to live off the land
And his taught him to be a businessman
He used to send me pictures of the Broadway nights
And I'd send him some homemade wine
But he was killed by a man with a switchblade knife
For 43 dollars, my friend lost his life
I'd love to spit some Beech-Nut in that dude's eyes
And shoot him with my old .45
'Cause a country boy can survive
Country folks can survive

'Cause you can't starve us out and you can't make us run
'Cause we're them old boys raised on shotguns
We say grace, and we say ma'am
If you ain't into that, we don't give a damn
We're from North California and South Alabam'
And little towns all around this land
And we can skin a buck, and run a trotline
And a country boy can survive

Country folks can survive
A country boy can survive
Country folks can survive
Or my times!!!!

Don’t you love farce
My fault, I fear
I thought that you’d want what I want
Sorry, my dear

Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street
From my window I'm staring while my coffee grows cold...

"Thick bitch, god's gift to a d!ck" Cardi B
"She says I wanna do right but not right now" Gillian welch

Rollin' down the street, smokin' indo
Sippin' on gin and juice, laid back
With my mind on my money
And my money on my mind

Start with a good‘ern by Hank Damn Williams:

”The silence of a fallin‘ star lights up a purple sky”
There were ghosts in the eyes of all the boys you sent away
They haunt these dusty beach roads in the skeleton frames of burned out Chevrolets

There were ghosts in the eyes of all the boys you sent away
They haunt these dusty beach roads in the skeleton frames of burned out Chevrolets
Show a little faith, there's magic in the night
You ain't a beauty but hey you're alright

Bowlegs . . . Oklahoma

Sometimes things don't work out, but that's how life is, son;
All them little miseries can keep you on the run
One mornin' you may wake up with your face down in the eggs
So just put out the fire, call in the dogs, an' head it on back to Bowlegs
Y'all just put out the fire, call in the dogs, an' head it on back to Bowlegs

Well, lots o' people in this world are tryin' to make a buck
Some folks ride in a limousine while others drive them big ol' Peterbilt trucks
Just remember that ol' saying 'bout the round holes and square pegs
An' just put out the fire, call in the dogs, an' head it on back to Bowlegs
Well, just put out the fire, call in the dogs, an' head it on back to Bowlegs

There's no use tryin' to be what you're not
You run on a treadmill and you'll get tired a lot. (Rhythmic breathing)
So why not take some advice from me?; (Ooh)
Even though I ain't no McCartney

Well, the moral of this story escapes me at this time
I've been too busy sitting here, just tryin' to make it rhyme
I'm a crazy drunken fool, and when I finish off this keg
I'm gonna piss on the fire, call in the dogs, an' head it on back to Bowlegs

Piss on the fire, call in the dogs, an' head it on back to Bowlegs
I'll just piss on the fire, call in the dogs, an' head it on back to Bowlegs

The crops we grew last summer weren't enough to pay the loans
Couldn't buy the seed to plant this spring and the farmers bank foreclosed
Called my old friend schepman up to auction off the land
He said john its just my job and I hope you understand
Hey calling it your job ol hoss sure dont make it right
But if you want me to Ill say a prayer for your soul tonight
And grandmas on the front porch swing with a
Bible in her hand Sometimes I hear her singing take me to the promised land
When you take away a mans dignity he cant work his fields and cows
There'll be blood on the scarecrow blood on the plow
Blood on the scarecrow blood on the plow

You’re sorry, grateful, regretful, happy
Why look for answers where none occur
You always are what you always were
Which has nothing to do with, all to do with her.

How do you like me now?
Now that I'm on my way
Do you still think I'm crazy
Standing here today?
I couldn't make you love me
But I always dreamed about living in your radio
How do you like me now?

Well the whole town came out to watch
The day they paved the parking lot
Somebody hung a ribbon up
And then they cut it down
And that big White Rose up on that sign
Was innocence in all our lives
And you could see it's neon lights
Half a mile out
Gas was fifty cents a gallon
And they put it in for you
And they pumped your tires and checked your oil
And washed your windows too
And we'd shine those cars as bright as bright
And we'd go park underneath that light
And stare out at the prairie sky
There was nothing else to do
But now there's plywood for glass
Where the windows all got smashed
And there's just a chunk of concrete
Where those old pumps used to stand
There's a couple of cars half out of the ground
And that old sign still spins 'round and 'round
But I guess the White Rose filling station's just a memory now
And the girls would spend a couple of bucks
Just to meet the boys working at the pumps
They'd grow up and fall in love
And they all moved away
Strangers used to stop and ask
How far they'd driven off the map
But then they built that overpass
And now they stay out on the highway
And now there's plywood for glass
Where the windows all got smashed
And there's just a chunk of concrete
Where those old pumps used to stand
There's a couple of cars half out of the ground
And that old sign still spins 'round and 'round
But I guess the White Rose filling station's just a memory now
And that neon sign was the heart and soul of this old one-horse town
And it's like it lost it's will to live
The day they shut it down
And now there's plywood for glass
Where the windows all got smashed
And there's just a chunk of concrete
Where those old pumps used to stand
There's a couple of cars half out of the ground
And that old sign still spins 'round and 'round
But I guess the White Rose filling station's just a memory now
I guess the White Rose filling station's just a memory now

Your mom single lyrics very well in all threads

27baa371a6c2d7396ebea5698a1ac7c5aedec1ff.gifv

"My mother ... was a pure woman, from a noble family. And I, at least, know who my father is, you... pig-eating son of a whore"

A little Turnpike.

“Well people anymore, they got no staying power.
A love you come by easy it’ll leave you just the same.
You want something bad, you gotta bleed a little for it.
You gotta look it in the eye, you gotta call it out by name.

Oh and lovers they walk by, but they ain’t like you and I.
They all wanna be Hank Williams, they don’t wanna have to die.”

Lots of good lyrics in this thread. Here's my countdown:

3. She's got legs right up to her neck. She's making me a physical wreck.

2. She told me not to fool around, but I done let the deal go down.

1. She told me to come, but I was already there.

Beautiful lady are you sure that you understand
The chances your taking loving a free living man
Are you really sure you really want what you see
Be careful of something that's just what you want it to be
