ND shut down our offense like OSU. Why the F would you ever root for Georgia and that Kirby Smart asshole?

As much as Rourke was fun to watch, his lack of mobility and weaknesses on our OL are pretty much what stopped us against good defenses this year. USC torched NDs D a few weeks ago because of their OL and QB. Our D played well but on the field too much.
Because I hate losing.

IU had an incredible season. The baseline for this program has been jacked up to respectability. Now build on it and be a player in the B1G. There is no downside to the football program at this point in time. CCC has to recruit and work that portal with the big boys. My hat is off to IU's football team. One of 12 ain't bad for the first year.
And as much shit the SEC folks (Finebaum in particular) have dished out I would love to see them gone from the playoffs in the next round.
The weird thing was, I felt our OL did a decent job vs ND and our OC said the same in his post game. Wasn't nearly as ineffective and overrun as it was in the OSU game. It just didn't feel like we even attempted that many passes in the first half. I heard someone say the % of pass to run was similar to MSU, but if those were #s for the entire game, I'm not sure that's relevant. MSU we were comfortably ahead most of the game, so you'd assume a lot more runs in the 2nd half, whereas at ND we were forced to pass more late. And, I'm sure it was because they changed their scheme, but it was effective. Just felt like a weird run-based approach to start. Honestly I felt that Rourke had some sort of injury and they were protecting him.
Not this game for me. After all the bellyaching and whining by the SEC, I hope ND pounds UGA.
I actually have no problem with them adjusting how they select the teams and include SOS. But, we were in fairly based on how selection for the playoffs and bowl games has always been done, so if you don't like it, change it. But, we played both of last years NC game participants, plus UCLA, NB, MD and MSU along with OSU. Many years I would guess that would be a top 30-40 schedule. Not IUs fault they were all worse than expected (didn't UM start off top 10?). I do think it was a mistake to get out of the Lville game and think we should have one notable pre-con game in our mix.... like ND starting in what, 2030 or something?
I rather see ND win over Ga … Being eliminated by the national champion … has better cashe’

ND beat us fair and square - I hold no animosity toward them. They were just a better team.
The fighting cupcakes can blow me. Overrated every year and I have hated them my whole life. I hope they get ass blasted. We played a tougher schedule than them and didn’t lose to UNI. They should have had to come to our house!
The O-Line made good progress and improvement from the Michigan game (3 sacks in a row start the 2nd half) to OSU to ND. Just like every other news event, a narrative gets created and rest of the pack barks the same message. Lazy.

I definitely think it would have been a closer game in Bloomington, but that's just speculation.
We struggled against teams with really good DLs and pass rushes. Not having a mobile QB hurt also.
This is what happens when teams take us seriously and really prepare for us. In the past, we've been a week off for a lot of teams and we may have hung with them for a while because they took us lightly. Those days are over. We need to be prepared to get everyone's best game.

Rourke never the same since breaking his thumb & especially after being shell shocked by OSU full team blitzes. Since OSU, he looked for the blitzes 1st each play before finding receivers if you watched his eyes. Looked Cig didn't have same confidence either with how many times he ran up the middle on 3rd down & plus 10 yards.
Yeah, I felt maybe with the play calling in the first half vs ND they were either trying to protect Rourke and he possibly had an injury, or they just really thought we could exploit them with the run. There was some criticism for CCC after the OSU game and I think legit criticisms for ND gameplan after all his boasting.
In many ways it felt worse than the game was. It was mainly 3 big plays, 2 monster ones, & Cig not trusting Rourke enough, whether it was the thumb or how he was still shell shocked from OSU sacks. Couldn't believe how many 3rd & 10s & more we ran up the middle against that line. Don't get me wrong, ND was the better team & it's tough to win in SB, but could've been more competitive if we opened up more.
and by the way, in his Notre Dame vs Georgia - What to Expect in the Sugar Bowl, Pt. 1 and 2 he gives a lot of commentary on IU/ND. And, I'm thinking he's very right. This loss is more on Coach and Coaches then Rourke or the Lines.
I don't think there was much to like about our coaching in that game. I think he'll learn from these games, but it was head-scratching.
Well, he was talking more about scheme than play calling. I think the play calling was a head scratcher at times.
The scheme, I don't know. It's easy to second guess after the play what the players SHOULD have done. I don't think our Defense played that badly, but when it focueses on specific plays, it can look bad.
Cig and staff are the same ones who got us 11 wins. I think it was personnel that got us, particularly in the running game, where Love just often overpowered us.
I'd love to have been in the post-game staff review.
No doubt our OL couldn’t handle the heat and a pocket passer isn’t going to fair well with as much pressure as they got. We need player upgrades to compete with the big boys. So let’s see how this season translates.

I can’t explain why the same team we played in SB lost to NIU.
With home field noise, huge mistakes early in game, etc., nd seemed much better than us for 3 1/2 quarters. I’m a strong believer that it would have been a different game if the interception would have resulted in 3pt fg, rather than 98 TD.
Going into the game, I thought ND and IU were fairly even, except they lost to NIU and we lost to Osu. We both beat pu 66-0/7. They hung their hat on a win at T a&m as a “significant win”. I disagreed. I thought beating the previous years’ final 2 was significant (but this wasn’t the thought smeared on espn). Seeing T a&%m lose to 6-6 USC, makes my debate facts seem profound.
I’m in the camp that says nd beating dogs makes us look better.
I have 2 new years wishes:
1. I wish we had played nd in Btown. 2. I wish we had played the nd team NIU played.

Giving up that long 98yd run moved their avg ypc from 2.7yds to 5.5yds. The interception on the goal line after a long drive was defeating. We caused a fumble by Mitchell Evans but ND recovers it. We are 1st and 10 from the ND 16 to cut the lead to 7 before the half and settle with a FG. The unnecessary roughness penalty after we made a 3rd down stop was brutal.
We did everything we could to play into their style of play but I don't think the game would look quite as mismatched if we played it again. It's not that we're the better team, they definitely had a step on us and beat us fair and square but we made things look so much worse.
