Gary Parrish mock draft has Yogi, JBJ &Troy all going in the LINK

I would bet that something weird happens in the offseason like...

one of those three going pro when they shouldn't or a transfer.

The ones who are good on projected drafts get info into such rather than using WAG's. How many think we have an over-sign problem for 2015/16?

nbadraft.net has

only Perea (#55) listed for 2016 draft. Nobody from IU for this year's draft

Re: I would bet that something weird happens in the offseason like...

you may be right about a transfer, however these kids don't wait until they're ready for the NBA. Do you think Vonleh was ready or for that matter, was Cody ready? Oladipo played the most the earliest of the three and I think that's because he developed for three years in college.

Some kids go to school thinking it's a stopover to the NBA. Some will go early regardless of where they might get drafted. A gig overseas is a better life than many have previously experienced as teenagers.

I'm having a tough time following you

What are you talking about with "wags"?

And yes I do think we have a problem with oversigning...the problem won't be solved by early entries. It's going to be solved the old TC way

If they are projected to go in the 2nd round

them I would hope they are smart enough not to enter the draft because most 2nd rounder don't make a roster and their contract is not guaranteed.

Vonleh was a first rounder..

where these three are projected to be drafted in the 2nd round and there is a lot of difference. Most guys drafted in the second round don't even make the roster and their contracts are not guaranteed.

I think a lot of people have heard that, he graduates in May & they are

recruiting a PG for next year.

Re: I think a lot of people have heard that, he graduates in May & they are

We are recruiting another point guard. That should be very telling.

Tom Crean never stops recruiting. I'm sure he'll be able to put together a

roster that makes sense.

Re: I'm having a tough time following you

Wag's is short for Wild A$$ Guesses. vbg

Can't you just go along with the idea that Crean knows more about his players and their short-term plans than any of us on this board.

I guarantee you one thing, Mr. Parrish doesn't know any more about player plans than does Crean. It's a little like free agents in other sports where teams make plans to replace them before they even declare. The smart ones try to stay ahead of the game. It's called action versus reaction. Crean no doubt was surprised on Fischer's leaving mid-year.

Re: Vonleh was a first rounder..

They can make more money overseas than a lot of them have ever seen.

Re: I have heard....

I bet the coaches have it down better than just expectations, whatever it is.

Re: I think a lot of people have heard that, he graduates in May & they are

I'll guarantee you, in Yogi's absence, Robert Johnson will be the so-called point as a starter next year, and James Blackmon will fill from time to time.

Only one would make sense

Not that I think Yogi will be a lock for the NBA, but he isn't likely to grow in the next year and he isn't going to make any big improvements in his game. He can stay and lead a potentially better team while moving up on the assist, 3 point, and scoring list.

Yogi isn't a hardship case. I believe he will come back, but you never know. It would be a mistake if anyone else would leave, but they can always play overseas if they don't get drafted.

You also have to move overseas, away from friends and family, to do that.

Many do not think that is optimal.

If this is based on Parrish talking to scouts around the league, they would be really stupid to leave. No guaranteed money in the second round, so it's a complete crap shoot. Very rarely do underclassmen leave early if they are projected to be 2nd rounders unless they have other underlying issues like grades etc. If Yogi were to leave, I could see him going late first round, same with JBJ (but more likely a 2nd rounder at this point). Troy doesn't have an outside shot, so until he gets a least a midrange game or becomes an elite defender, he's not a first rounder. In the NBA athletic wings are a dime a dozen. You've gotta have a solid all around game or a niche. None-the-less I could see one of the three leaving early, but very doubtful all three would go. JBJ could be a top twenty pick in another year. Yogi's got game, but his size will hurt him. Troy needs at least another year.

They move away....

from family and friends when they go to college. With all the hi-tech niceties these days, does it matter whether one is 50 miles away or a few thousand? They'll go where it makes the most $ense. That's what most people look at when taking a job.

Re: It would be so much that

Going to a different country for employment is nothing new and it will probably have more rapid growth in the future than that of the past. Think of the excitement of growing one's background in regards to experiencing different culture and language.

I would agree it might be a problem for a Luke Fischer type. VBG

I think it is more that they just don't like being in college, except Yogi

who will graduate.

Re: Yogi graduates in May**

It would be interesting to see if Perea also may be able to graduate when Yogi does. I'm thinking he has attended summer school as has Yogi, ......anybody out there know for sure?

Most 18 or 19 year old kids

are not ready to move to another country by themselves and have to worry about taking care of themselves. Most have trouble adjusting to going to the NBA and living on their own but at least their families can get to them in a short amount of time.

Williams has no outside shot and a mediocre handle. JBJ is slow and plays defense like a lamp post. Yogi is 5 foot nothing and would struggle to get any shot off against an NBA guard..

Can't imagine any of these guys in the NBA next year.

Re: Pointless if not in the 1st round....

They all will be back.

If not, then it won't be cuz of the NBA.

One thing is for certain, this is a CTC team...

so anything can happen. I have the least amount of faith in CTC convincing all three to stay, and I wouldn't be surprised if they all left regardless of being first round or not.

If all three leave, you can count on the '15-'16 year being Crean's last.

Re: Most 18 or 19 year old kids

Who's 18 or 19 at IU that's going to be leaving for any reason. No one said such a move would be seamless for even the 20-21 yr. olds, but there comes a time to begin the maturation process and nothing makes it work any better than being on your own.

Life can be tough at any age, however putting off the inevitable doesn't make it any easier.

I'm not sure why it would be a surprise.

I fully expect the roster next year to be very different than it is now.
