Garcia in B'Town

Well originally my intentions were to discuss Garcia but got sucked into calling out the fake account that courtsense has going. After that some of the usual suspects that see any Purdue/Kentucky related username started their usual stuff and it derailed the thread worse. I did try to direct the conversation back to Garcia once before though. I'd be more than happy to actually talk basketball if the thread got back on track though.

your intention was to discuss Garcia? But why? Why discuss a prospect of a rival that I don't ever recall PU being involved with? Rings hollow. I think you're trying to deflect. You came here to start trouble, you just didn't want to admit it.

From some odd reason he wants to talk about Dawson Garcia? Why not Hunter Dickinson? ;):D

Watched him play with Morton in Mongolia and really liked his game. Wished he considered Purdue but I don't think he was ever that interested in them. Didn't know IU was a serious spot for him until I saw the official visit news. Figured I'd still talk positive about him while he remained uncommitted and not a member of the rival school ;)

Looked good for awhile but it seems Hunter Dickinson is Duke bound now. If you're wanting to talk Purdue targets on a thread about an IU target Kalkbrenner is the one I don't understand. Seemed like he was headed Purdues way but chose Creighton in the end. Just how it goes sometimes.

My God, when is this troll crap going to end??? Yet another legitimate thread hijacked by the same trolls. I want to hear about basketball not someone’s BS.
Where are the freaking moderators here???????

I stopped coming here for a long time because the mods do jack and shit about all the troll accounts, but if you’re of a certain political persuasion you’ll get your shit deleted in a heartbeat. The site operators don’t want the troll accounts deleted because they count towards site traffic. So you can make all the troll accounts you want and make up stuff about players, recruits, and their families.

Trolls trolling trolls! Cool!

story from Minny paper (Star Trib) on Friday quoted him saying he may make decision as early as this week, after his IU visit. Other than that...nothing on the actual visit.
there is some chatter (regarding the results of his visit) on the pay sites, both here and elsewhere. Garcia's camp has kept things pretty hush, I didn't see much after his visit to Memphis 2 weeks ago.

I heard he had a great visit. We were trailing Marquette a bit going into this visit. Hopefully this puts IU into the lead and he commits soon. It's been reported that he wants to choose this fall, before his HS season starts.

He's visiting MU next weekend. Doesn't look good to me anymore. Oh well.

Well some people are saying if he's making a last minute trip to Marquette that's actually good for us, meaning if he was all in for MU he wouldn't re-visit.

Of course anything can be spun.

A quick comparison before he makes his decision, perhaps. I just can't see Marquette being more attractive than his IU visit. This makes it seem as if it is between IU and Marquette.

I was expecting a verbal soon honestly but i guess i read too much into what people said

No reason to expect otherwise. He loved IU on his visit. This will be a tough call for him as Marquette is much closer to home. Personally, I think he loves IU and wants to commit, but he feels obligated to give MU a final shot. I expect this recruitment to wrap up soon.

Was this an unplanned visit to Marquette? Is this an official visit, or had he already taken that?

I don't know about good for us, but I think it indicates that he hasn't made up his mind... unless he just wants to be on campus to make his commitment known. If we truly were behind MU in his recruitment, I suppose this could be viewed as an improvement, but hard to think a visit to a rival campus is good for us. Good for us would have been a quick commit after his visit.

The one big advantage Marquette has is that it’s a lot closer to where his family is. Otherwise, IU is sitting pretty, especially all the good friendships he has with Leal and company. But no guarantees in recruiting.

To be fair Marquette has been the much better program over Garcia’s lifetime. The kid wasn’t even born the last time we made it past the Sweet 16 and we’ve been to the NCAA Tournament 4 times in the last 12 years. He can relate to Marquette’s success much more than ours I would suspect.

Yeah, you're right. He was a year, maybe two years.old when Marquette went to the final four. A year after IU's last appearance. You really do just post the stupidest BS I've seen on any forum. Damn.

Even during our long dry spell, I’d bet we have been a much a higher profile team than Marquette and with more players placed into the League. If he wants to go to a program like Marquette then he’s not someone who has the intestinal fortitude to help us rebuild the program.

Are you serious? I’m kind of baffled by this. One big east championship and we pounded them last year. Yeah they sure have been loads better. Lol

How do you figure this, feepie? Marquette has made the tourney 2 times in the last 6 years, and lost both times in the opening round to South Carolina (2017) and last year got destroyed by Murray State by 19 points. IU buttblasted Marquette LAST YEAR by 23 points, 96-73.
Marquette lost both Hausers, and will lose Markus Howard this year. IU is building a strong roster, while Marquette is trending downward. Your ridiculous negativity towards IU is so sad and pathetic, to be fair.

Bingo! That’s why Glass scooped up a good young coach to get kids like this.

Just like in football, where Allen is proving to be head and shoulders above the dude he replaced.

Glad you are finally allowing yourself to be educated.

Peegs made a comment on Sunday that if he schedules another visit then that's supposed to be really good for us.

There was also a Marquette fan posting that they were definitely the leaders, have been recruiting him the longest and that he wasn't going to worry unless he schedules another visit.

Which he did.

So some have taken this as a good thing.

We'll find out soon.

I still would like someone to explain so I can understand it, how him going for another visit to MU is a good thing for IU.

You really do just pull chit out of your a$$. You ever seen this site? It's interesting and keeps ongoing top 10 lists for many things. It's always being updated by viewers of the site who vote. Look where Indiana is and let us know where Marquette is.

His MU visit happened back in February. It might have remained the 'best' visit/impression in his recruiting endeavors, up until this past weekend. So now, he may need to go re-visit MU one last time because his perception of how appealing MU seemed in Feb, has since changed.

It's all glass half full/empty stuff. And I'll agree, it's not even close to a verbal "hey I'm going to IU" but any Marquette fan who thought they had him in the bag has got to be nervous now.

Ironically, there are still homers up in Minny that think he's staying local.

And let's not get our panties in a twist if he chooses MU. We weren't even in this 6 months ago, he's not a local kid, and we didn't have a great season last yr to brag about. I hope we land him, he's a great player and will be a huge help if he comes to IU. But we shouldn't expect him to be the second coming of Cody. Just trying to keep things in perspective.

Coach Ostrom has been driving the bus on this recruitment and has done a great job. I agree with the above speculation that he had his head turned at IU on his visit, and now he's going to take one final look at MU and then make a final decision. If IU isn't in the lead at this point, I'd be very surprised.

The impending rule change by the NCAA concerning NLI might work in IU's favor. It's to go into effect January 2021 which will be in the middle of his freshman season. Would he likely make more from endorsements at IU or Marquette?

My take is he didn't have a visit scheduled and IU was going to be his final so, something happened to cause him to visit Marquette again.

They have supposedly been his leader so...our visit made him update his plan which people are saying is a good thing for us.

But yes, Marquette will have his last visit unless he lets Archie do another in home.
