Fun Fact

This will be the first decade IU hasn't been to a final four since the 60s. Blame the previous coaching hires but Archie is doing everything right culturally, getting rid of the distractions and really implementing his system. I respect that.
Well, if you can't be good be well liked I guess.

I guess the fun was looking forward to making a run atleast once every 10 years, sometimes multiple. Obviously the "fun fact" was facetious.

Just kidding! If we as IU fans lose the ability to laugh at ourselves... well then what do we have left?

Not a fun fact, but let this one sink in. Without a Knight coached or recruited player on the roster, IU has won only 1 Sweet 16 game since the evacuation of Dunkirk (May of 1940). The Hoosiers are (1-6) in just 7 tries with the lone victory coming over Depaul in 1953.

Yeah, and without a basketball...IU hasn't won any.

Keep in mind though that during the late 90's through early this century...IU administration did what they could to lower the influence of basketball. Then fumbled the resurgence. And is almost unique in self reporting to the NCAA. Talk about this almost perfect storm.

It isn't just the lack of production...that is just a symptom.

I like Archie Miller and think that he will do very well at IU. I do not think that IU should just settle for doing ok. But, IU must have a plan for getting to the top...and Archie Miller has all the skills.

Well we make the tourney about once every three to four years. Not too shabby.

Well 99% were sure of Crean. And it’s the same group of people doing the same thing expecting/hoping for a different result.
They're not the same people. I wanted Crean fired and I wanted Miller hired. I'm not at all giving up on Miller. I still think he will be very successful at IU.

At what point will we start seeing this success? Just curious because I am still waiting. Is it four years, five years?

Cleaning up is own garbage.. He recruited Anderson, Langford, could of let Moore leave before he got here but had him recommit. Excuses what is it next year? Maybe he is not that great of a coach..

You can always come up with an excuse as it it really not that hard. The team is to young, they did not mesh well, we had another injury, the schedule was to hard, etc.It is more a matter of when to the majority of fans quit accepting the excuses. Crean was still using excuses in year 9 and he still had believers.

But we have a Student Athlete Bill of Rights!

Also, no winning season in football this decade. That had never happened before. The Fred Glass era has been an abject disaster.

A), IU made the sweet 16 in 1967, and technically the top 12, since they won the regional 3rd place game. (B10 champ automatically made the sweet 16 back then, and only the B10 champ even made the tourney out of the B10 till the mid 70s.

IU had numerous sweet 16, possibly final 4, level teams that never got a chance at the tourney in the days when only the B10 champ advanced to the NCAAs.

McCracken's last team, 64-65, was possibly final 4 caliber, but Mich (Cazzie Russel) won the conf that yr. (not sure if IU was still on all athletics probation that yr anyway).

B) Knight's 1st final 4 team at IU had a nucleus recruited by Watson.

C) IU's 2002 team nucleus didn't play that many minutes for Knight.

it was under MD that they blossomed.

I have hope but no no realistic success expections for IU football under Allen.
I think it may take a coaching change before IU football goes to a bowl.

not that IU doesn't have it's challenges in fball regardless of who's HC, but feel the TA hire to be a very good one.

The Hoosiers may not have a winning season this year either. But I think it will be the best football team of the past decade.

What players did he recruit that he is supposed to run off? Anderson?

I'm not sure if you are shedding additional light or attempting to imply that my post is somehow false.

The 1965 team was included in my post as part of the 1-6 record in the round of 16. There were certainly other really good IU teams that didn't participate in post season play (41, 43, 46, 51, 60, 65), but it doesn't change the fact that none of those teams won a Sweet 16 game. With the importance of the NIT in those days, it's surprising that IU didn't participate in the NIT with those other good teams. I don't know the history, but perhaps the Big Ten was NCAA or bust in those days?

Knight's first Final Four and the 2002 squad each had Knight's fingerprints either through players he coached or recruited.

Lastly, the "One Sweet 16 win since the evacuation of Dunkirk by an IU team not influenced by Knight" is not something I came up with myself. In fact when It was shared with me, I thought that it couldn't possibly be right. It came from a Purdue guy in retaliation for a little teasing about the predictable choke job vs UVA. It did check out as true though, and when I offered excuses the guy said "Now you sound like a Purdue fan":D

The year 2 final four isn't even over yet, and it's already year 3? Or are you just warming up for the complaints you'll launch next year after IU loses a game?

Our year is over we have no shooters coming in our two top scorers are gone and maybe 3 guys might transfer.. Great way to start recruiting for 2019-2020 maybe year 5 Archie will get us to 20 wins.
