Yeah....Woody will keep cashing $3m+ annual checks for years until someone tells him to leave. Who wouldn't? Most money he's ever made in his career. Why would you want someone nipping at your heels for the job?
Our larger issue is we gave a job to someone who wouldn't have had it at any other school in the nation, for 1/5th of the salary.....about what the Knicks were paying him.

He has never once coached at the NCAA level, and has also never recruited at the NCAA level. He’s completely irrelevant in the NCAA ranks. No one GAF if he won a championship in 1981. How many players have the same accomplishment in the last 41 years?

Big difference between being a player and a coach. He’s a proven dogshit coach in the NBA. He would be a miserable NCAA assistant. No doubt Woodson will hire him, because he’s proven to be incompetent.

RW is irrelevant in the college game. Particularly with recruiting. There isn't a 16 year old that's ever heard his name.. and he wouldn't have the slightest clue how to recruit 16 year olds.

Dane Fife has been a household name for over a decade among the assistant ranks and wasn’t pulling his weight in recruiting. Maybe being “relevant” doesn’t have the pull you think it does (see Fife). I have no clue how Wittman would resonate with potential recruits, but I can tell you he’s forgotten more about basketball than most people on this will ever know. Fail to see how somebody with nearly 30 years of coaching experience at the highest level of basketball can be construed as a negative thing?

This is a really bad look for Woodson. Firing assistant coaches is usually a last ditch move to buy another season by a head coach.

Did rabjohns say what these politics or conspiracy theories were? She assumes it was right wing stuff obviously or her comment would have been much different. You should not talk politics period to players but she had to throw her little jab in cause she assumes somehow that fife isnt a left winger. That's a fact.
Not here it is rejoice fife is bad man now. So hopefully it does not hurt iu we shall see. But plenty of former players will likely take sides. Fife went from hero to zero in two hours. Whatever the situation it's not how you unite former players. There had to be a better way to handle this.

i have nothing against Fife. And really, nobody in this board should have bad feeling towards him. He came here to help IU get back on top. It didn’t work out for him. It’s Ok. Shit happens. Move along and I really do hope Fife finds a good role and is successful.

Personally, I would like to know what political issues he was supposedly discussing with recruits and how that would even come up. Seems strange. Wonder where Rabjohns got that information? I can see those issues coming up with players on the team; people you are with on a day-to-day basis. But not recruits.
At any rate, I like Dane a lot and wish him well. It’s Woodson’s team and he has to be able to build a staff he’s comfortable with. Wish they could’ve found a cleaner way to part
