I just saw that the Reds are trading Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez to the Mariners. So for those keeping score at home, you can add those to the growing list of guys the Reds have or soon will push out the door:

Sony Gray
Wade Miley
Nick Castellanos
Tucker Barnhart
Michael Lorenzen

So basically they're going to roll Jonathan India and Joey Votto out there and hope for the best. It'll be a LONG season in Cincinnati...

EDIT TO ADD: I just saw Joey Votto is trending on twitter. Basically people are calling for the Reds to mercy trade him - or for him to demand a trade. Rolling him out there with a bunch of schlubs probably isn't fair to him, so at this point maybe it's time for him to go too.

Ridiculous. I ask myself every year why I'm still a fan, but usually it's at the end of the season.

Yesterday JMV on 1070 The Fan was pretty ticked about it. He said,"what reason is there to watch the team? You only go to the game to see the other team I guess".

I fear they will suck a couple years as an excuse to move to Nashville.
As pissed off as I am at them now, I certainly hope not.

Despite the Bengals’ recent success their stadium lease is up in 2026 and it’s still a possibility that they could leave.

It would really suck for Cincinnati to lose the Reds AND the Bengals.

I doubt the Reds would leave. At least not with the current owner. But Nashville is a much bigger market, as is Vegas. If they are sold, I'm not sure a new owner will want to stay. And if they aren't sold, I'm not sure they can be competitive. It looks like "better than the Pirates" is our goal.

The Reds traded away their team at the same time the Bengals spent money on linemen. What a bizarre change of team attitudes. The Bengals are actually trying to win, the Reds, not so much.

I still think all these trades and not getting anything in return stinks on ice, but I will say Garrett seemed to be really good at giving up home runs and Suarez hasn't been the greatest over the last year or two. Trading Winker now is just stupid.

And as I'm trying to find reasons to keep rooting for them, I'm wondering if they're putting together a package to keep Castellanos. I know that'd like be an albatross around their free agency neck for a long while (and probably very unlikely), but he hasn't signed anywhere yet and I know he and his family like it in Cincinnati.

Like I said, I'm tilting my head and squinting real hard to find some hope here - maybe this is just a big cash dump and they're just going to suck for the next decade.

I'm loving it, watching the Reds cash dump. Go STL

I covered the 1976 World Series between the Yankees and Reds for The Daily Reporter. Because I had just graduated from IU five or six months earlier, it was a thrill!

Because I was working for a Greenfield, IN daily newspaper, I didn't go to New York for those games. Still, I got to cover two games at Cincinnati. The other reporters and I sat near the Reds' dugout--if I remember correctly.

I still remember seeing Tony Perez in the parking lot following the press conference after one of the games. He very politely answered my questions and was a personable individual!
