Hire Beard and put him on Zero Tolerance Policy.
Or…don’t hire someone that you think needs to be on a zero tolerance policy?
If they hire him, I would hope it’s because they believe the incident wasn’t as has been largely portrayed, and they feel confident something like that would ever happen again.
I was being facetious with the suggestion, like ZT will keep a flawed character on the straight and narrow pathway of righteousness. We saw how that ambush worked out.
So much noise, especially from agents, it's hard to tell if any of it is good intel. Scott is keep this process very close to the vest.

Don't need zero tolerance. He hasn't done anything wrong. You call the former employer to verify employment, etc. You cannot pit him on a zero tolerance policy without cause.
Bring back Sampson; less baggage than Beard at this point.

Moron drama queens, listen. There’s no way Dolson has Woody step down, mid season, with out a CYA mentality. He’s had his man since day one.
I keep going back to that too. It would be too risky to let go of a coach who leads the team to the tournament 3 out of 4 years only to hire a guy no one has heard of.
I think Woodson announced when he did because the university felt it had to be done to avoid more embarrassment at the games, especially with Dusty coming to town. I would be surprised if there was remotely enough time to ordain his successor before that rushed proclamation. Unfortunately I think we are seeing the true level of cache a program that has accomplished next to nothing for over 20 years actually has. Really hope I'm wrong.
IU has spent a lot of money on a search firm for nothing if that's the case. I think you're off base here. If you think firing Woodson at any point in the season was a gamble then I think you may have lost perspective on the coaching acumen or lack there of. It is evident the coaching search is ongoing. I think it'll be Beard or McCollum or should I say I hope it is one of these two.
I could imagine this scenario: Dolson planned all along to fire Woodson at the end of the season. He wanted to do it last year, but his hands were tied. But he knows Woodson isn't the guy. He renegotiated the buyout. He already has his replacement lined up. Then things start to really turn south, boos and "Fire Woodson" chants at the Hall. Can't have that. So the mid-season resignation announcement. Nothing has changed, just the timing of the announcement.
Imagine a character the man of Bob Knight on Zero Tolerance…

IU gets itself in trouble when they just pull up big names. I’m tired of hearing about Brad Stevens. I want somebody who wants to be here.
I laughed when I heard Dakich say that the “real IU fans don’t care about style of play (the criticism of McCollum) as long as they win.” I thought: Dan must have not visited this site in a while to hear posters claim they could never watch McCollum’s offense.

That's probably what it comes down to. Does Dolson trust Beard enough to stake his own job on it? Assuming that Dolson would be the fall guy if Beard has any repeat of anything like what happened in Texas.
And also, has Whitten nixed it regardless.
I think IU fans want a team that plays hard, plays smart, and of course wins.
I just described McCollum’s teams/resume. He adjusts his offense to fit his personnel. It isn’t boring.
I hope he’s Dolson’s choice and that he already does have it buttoned up.
Yeah, I guess she would need to approve as well. I hope they feel that embarassing night was very abnormal and not indicative of him.
If you think McCollum is Archie 2.0, you haven't been doing your homework.
He isn't coaching at Texas. He is coaching at Ole Miss, and IU cannot implement a no tollerance policy without cause. They can try to make the contract worded so that certain things negate the contract. But if they made it sound like he was being singled out they would probably be liable to counter suit in the case that they tried to exercise it.
