First, LOL!His primary thing is that he's a celebrity. Not only do I not think celebrity is a qualification, I actually consider it a red flag.
Second, Why would a celebrity take such a job?

CoH, not trying "to make this appointment important just to excoriate Oz" .
The Social Security Act established the Medicare Board of Trustees to oversee the financial operations of the HI and SMI trust funds. The Board has six members. Four members serve by virtue of their positions in the Federal Government: the Secretary of the Treasury, who is the Managing Trustee; the Secretary of Labor; the Secretary of Health and Human Services; and the Commissioner of Social Security. Two other members are public representatives whom the President appoints and the Senate confirms. These positions are currently vacant. The Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) serves as Secretary of the Board
I see what the left is doing here. They are trying to make this appointment important just to excoriate Oz. This appointment is not a big deal. Oz’s position is entirely ministerial. There are other appointments that deserve more scorn.

Trying to make a case that Oz is seeking an important position.
CoH, your post only adds to the importance of the appointment by bringing up the fact that the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) also serves as Secretary of the Medicare Board of Trustees.
As to qualifications for the job compare Trump's previous appointment (Seema Verma) with Oz. I would argue Verma's past experience as outlined in this Wiki article is preferrable to Oz. Verma undoubtedly was recommended to Trump by Vice President Pence as Verma helped implement a Medicaid program for Indiana which included work requirements.
Verma is an example of a terrible public employee. Hopefully Oz will fare better
