Dolson

You didn't know IU was pouring money into FB. I simply pointed out that IU is doing that.
Yes I’m aware, and pointed out basketball is a top 10 spender with zero return. If they want to be a football power take from basketball and put into football. Basketball team $$$$ has been a waste

The problem with this thinking is that football everywhere is controlling college sports. Basketball, like it or not, is not the key player at the bargaining table. All the expansions, realignments and deals revolve around football. The entire media deal hinged on football. Football needs to be built and sustained with max effort. Basketball can be put on damn near auto pilot with a good coach. 2-3 key players with a good coach will naturally awaken a “sleeping giant.” The key is good coach. Auburn was nothing in basketball until Pearl arrived. Michigan was scraping bottom of the barrel under Howard.
Makes Cignetti’s one year result pretty miraculous but I would bet on him because of a history of success.
You cannot take a guy like Woodson who didn’t coach a game of college and expect results. That was the failure. This same team with a Pearl, Beard or May would look and play dramatically different.
2-3 key players doesn’t matter if the leadership isn’t there. Iu has had as many players drafted as anyone in the conference and nothing to show for it.
This years team has a PaC 12 player of the year, pac 12 freshman of the year.
3 five star recruits in Tucker, Mbakwo and Renau
And this group is terrible.
Woody doesn’t understand building a program and a team.

This is 100% precisely correct👍.

What has gone down this season and the three seasons under Mike Woodson that preceeded this one, is exactly what I - very much on the record - expected. But while I am the further thing from surprised with respect to the shitty mediocre irrelevance the Hoosiers basketball program has become and continues to still currently reside in, unlike nearly 4 years ago when Woodson was the hire, all the way up until, say, the end of this past October, I am now no longer despondent nor even a little bit worried with respect to the near upcoming future of the IU men’s basketball program.

And the reason the prospective outlook for the men’s basketball program’s future is bright once again is almost exclusively due to the immediate out the gate overwhelming resounding success of Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosier football program. The momentum of the football program and the big time dollars that have since been poured in and will only continue to be poured into the football program now and for the foreseeable future as a result, rest assure, gives Hoosiers AD Scott Dolson all the clout/power he needs to kick Woodson’s ass to the curb the split second the season ends; and along with that, the big swinging dick money and momentum he needs to bring in a game changing as Woodson’s replacement.

I’ve been saying it for months now: Curt Cignetti is Mike Woodson’s, Quinn Buckner’s, and the entire network of the old guard grifters committee club worst nightmare. The better Cignetti does (and frankly did) with the football program - especially in year one - the more it exposes Woodson and the boys over on the basketball side. And it does so, all the while simultaneously giving Dolson more than enough chops to “Ari Gold” the ever loving SHIT out of Woodson, Buckner and the rest of the arrogant, entitled, grifting, dipshit old boys network the nanosecond the 2024-2025 Hoosier’s men’s basketball team’s season ends with a swift…..

@twenty02

TLDR?
Woodson is done, gone, 100% matter of factly shitcanned at season’s end. NO CHANCE he’s here next season. Literally, none. Expect a big time coaching hire as Woodputz’s replacement. I’m thinking Bruce Pearl. Something along those lines. Gun to the head, I say Pearl. But that’s just - albeit wishful thinking - my reasonable guess. Perhaps a Dusty May one and done UM poach. Could see that too.

I really want to believe it wasn't his decision and quinn forced this on him. But if it was it really makes my question him. I find it very hard to believe nobody else wanted this job so they settled on woodson. I want to hope it was just quinn saying you have to hire my iu guy. Because if it wasn't what was dolson thinking. This was likely never going to work. Having to hire fife and Matta was the first red flag.
It would be something if Woody was a Dolson hire.

I mean a profound and perfectly predicable failure in Woodson (there was a group of us on here that said it wouldn't work and we were lambasted for such an obvious observation).

Followed by a truly inspired hire.

IF it was Dolson. I will give him a pass if he does the right thing and gets rid of Woody and brings in a great coach.

IU is built to win. Built for it.

If it’s Bruce I’ll go find something else to watch. I heard a certain someone once say “ Pearl would cheat even if it was to his disadvantage “ I believe there are better options in Beard due to age and energy to succeed. Just my two cents

Are you saying he will be canned on senior night during the post game ceremonies, it will be the last game of the season.

Presumably, quite reasonably, perhaps yes.

Ultimately, I believe there stands a roughly 34.18% chance that the unjustifiably pompous current head coach of ours, Mike “Hey, I figured I’d just coast on into retirement with an enormous, preposterously lucrative grift of my alma mater by having my longtime dear good ol’ buddy Quinn hook my collegiate basketball incompetent coaching-ass up for a decade, decade and a half - or for however the f*uck long I f*uckin’ felt like it, really - gig as the men’s head basketball coach of the Indiana Hoosiers….Well, that was at least until that asshole Curt Cignetti had to come along with his immediate, entirely unprecedented, previously unthinkable IU football of all goddamn things resounding success, just as I was on the precipice of only my 4th year at the helm of this grift that had me commandeering this highly underachieving, directionless, clueless malpractice of mediocrity basketball program and f*uck the whole damn thing up for me” Woodson and his lazy AF recruitin’, lazy AF coaching ways - and incapable of it too at the college level sans the world-class physically capable NBA-type talent athletes and/or the ready-made fundamentally polished players (Which, yes, I know: fundamentally sound and polished basketball players are more or less completely extinct nowadays in the United States thanks to the “LeBronization” of basketball in this country. The LeBronization of basketball being the dastardly abhorrent, unholy polygamous matrimony between the AAU youth “basketball development” system, the National (used to be anyway) Basketball Association, ESPN and the by and large state sponsored propagandist sports media networks writ large, and the PATHETIC bad-faith actor army infiltration of monetarily incentivized to glaze & praise unequivocal bullshit nonsense Klutch “Sports Agency” industry plants and pundits, and the lowest common detonator, don’t know any better, easily manipulated casual fan sheep who lap it all up….but anyhow, I digress) at his disposal required to effectively run the only “offense” his utterly creative-less, dime-a-dozen dinosaur basketball “mind” is even moderately versed in (that being the uninspired, off-ball motion be damned to hell for all of eternity, create your own shot and chuck ISO-ball “system”) has this talented, yet poorly constructed roster bereft of both leadership and coaching, Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball team finish somewhere between 15th and 18th place in the Big Ten Eighteen standings this season when all is said and done; a place in the standings which would then, therefore, leave the Hoosiers absent from the field of competition in the conference tourney altogether; which would then, yes, mercifully render the inevitable 29 point home drubbing loss at Assembly Hall on senior day Mike Woodson’s very last ever game coached as the head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball team/program.

Which leaves, by my estimation, I reckon about a 65.82% chance that Mike leads the fellas to a 14th, 13th, perhaps dare I even say upwards of - I shit you not - a smashing 12th place finish in the BIG. Which, if the arrogant grifting dick-hole is able to accomplish THAT…means the inevitable 30 point shellacking in the first round of the BTT at the hands of Nebraska for like the dozenth consecutive time shall be Mike Woodson’s - the insufferable worthless college basketball coach prick that he is - swan song sideline “effort” at the helm of this once before (and soon to finally be once again nearly just as soon as his ass is outta here) blue blood college basketball program 👊.

You are on a roll. Thanks for using paragraphs. You gave me a few chuckles. Good to see that some people still care enough to get worked up about the dumpster-fire-ish-ness of IUBB.

Although in his third year at Butler he doesn’t look to be getting it done. I’m sure with no D-1 football and a small private school, maybe Butler isn’t competitive in NIL. But Matta isn’t in A-10 or midwestern city or whatever league school was in during his first tenure there.
Matta will be fine at Butler. Injuries and lack of a true PG have been an issue this season. Next year’s class is top 15. Grab an impactful center and wing and things will look up. All on maybe 1/3 of IU’s NIL budget.
