At this point I’d be ok with it. I know that if he starts Friday night, I’m done with Woody. What say you? If this thread even stays up.
It is a different day in sports but I also think society. Far fewer manners, less common decency, less discipline response. We’ve had guys booted for much less than X has done during his 3 years in Bloomington. But that was during the Knight era. For better or worse, it’s a different day in college athletics. I am totally ambivalent on this question.
I bet you he does. Woodson is softAt this point I’d be ok with it. I know that if he starts Friday night, I’m done with Woody.
It might be but as long as you let the kids control things with zero consequenses expect it to keep happening over and over again. It is a different day in sports but I also think society. Far fewer manners, less common decency, less discipline response.
Agree with thisNot dismissed, but at a minimum he shouldn't start next game. Aside from being a dirty play that he got busted for, it probably cost us the game because it looked like he was going to play within himself the second half.
Like who? I recall threats of guys getting booted, but it seems like he often gave them another chance and I think I recall that at times he took a vote of the team to see if they wanted someone back. That whole Alaska affair that involved Woody, I don't think anyone got booted for and I think he considered it for both Coverdale and Pat Knight, but ultimately kept both. Funderburke left on his own. How did Sherron leave? But, who did he actually boot? I'm sure some of the guys that left, he encouraged them, but I don't recall guys that he actually booted? We’ve had guys booted for much less than X has done during his 3 years in Bloomington. Tommy Baker......fast as hell and could jump through the roof. My buddy and I called him "Passin' Tommy". It was a sad day when he got booted.I guarantee you that Woodson knows how things were handled by RMK and we have opinion but the internal workings of the program are speculated about but don''t always get openly communicated although in this day of social media there are a lot of so called experts about what goes on behind closed doors.
Old timers know the real story about Woodson, Tommy Baker and Roberson. Two of the three were kicked off the team after the Alaska trip. RMK gave them all chances.
Google help from The NY Times.Like who? I remember that him and somebody else got in trouble on that Alaskan trip and they got booted. I can't remember who the other person was? Jim Roberson?Tommy Baker......fast as hell and could jump through the roof. My buddy and I called him "Passin' Tommy". It was a sad day when he got booted.
That is my prediction. I believe that inaction will turn many Hoosiers away from Woody.Don't be surprised when there are no repercussions.
I think one other person that i forgot about was a guy named cox. I also remember that RMK let the team vote on whether Pat got to stay or go. Wilkerson of course. I can vouch that Isiah as a freshman was no choir boy. Momma would not have been happy with him.I remember that him and somebody else got in trouble on that Alaskan trip and they got booted. I can't remember who the other person was? Jim Roberson?
Might just be people's perception of words. I didn't watch the presser. But to call something a "fiasco" is pretty damning at least the way I've seen the word used and by its dictionary definition: "a complete failure, esp one that is ignominious or humiliating"In today's culture, seems like most everything is excused if you're delivering...
Personally, I think he's had his second chances (offcourt stuff). I'm more disappointed with CMW in the presser. CMW was terse, defensive and called the incident a "fiasco" How about referencing the action and stating that it was bush league bullshit and we're not going to tolerate it at IU?? CMW had better of had a 1:1 meeting with X today.
Just because you can't use the same tactics as RMK in today's world, you can still have the same values.
I'm honestly done and will not like this team with X at the helm. He's a shitty leader, poor mechanics, made of glass and I'd rather lose 3-5 more games without him than with him in this shitshow of a season.
Because we’re doing so great with him?No. If we dismiss him from the team, we may not win another game in the conference.
Nope. But it’s similar to the “this team is better without X” crowd. X might not be a great player or leader, but to say this team is better without him is complete nonsense. Did you see what we looked like last night after he was ejected?Because we’re doing so great with him?
Absolutely not condoning what he did. But dismissal from the team, that’s a little steep.I'm certain he's not the only player who has done it. Doesn't make it OK.
I guess I interpreted it as a major downplay and individually focused. I wanted him to condemn it as insulting the history of the program, current program and team brand. I never heard him say one thing about it being absolutely unacceptable..just seemed as if it was regarded as an individual gaffe.Might just be people's perception of words. I didn't watch the presser. Had this been his first or second issue, I would totally agree. But it all adds up AND he's a 6th year senior doing this BS.Absolutely not condoning what he did. But dismissal from the team, that’s a little steep.
That’s a fair point.Had this been his first or second issue, I would totally agree. But it all adds up AND he's a 6th year senior doing this BS.
I mean if that's where we are, we don't have a program worthy of the name on the shirt. I'd rather we miss the tournament than condone (even tacitly) that sort of conduct by a player.I hate to say it, but this team is so desperate for effective guard play that there will be no repercussions. Woodson understands that the season is on the line (and ultimately, his job) so he is unlikely to drop X or even reduce minutes. Woodson can look at the X Ohio State game and understand that he can’t get that game from anyone else.
I would guess there would be some behind the scenes minor punishment of some sort. But no suspension or reduced minutes.
Zeller did it. But he also didnt have the backround X has brought either.Nope. But it’s similar to the “this team is better without X” crowd. X might not be a great player or leader, but to say this team is better without him is complete nonsense. Did you see what we looked like last night after he was ejected?
Let’s also not act like X is the first player in college basketball to cheap shot someone below the belt. Grayson Allen made a career out of doing shit like this on a basketball court.
Dude I hate to break this to you, but however many wins we get in the conference ain't gonna be enough to get us into the Big Dance.No. If we dismiss him from the team, we may not win another game in the conference.
