I'd like to hear in private what his high school coach has to say about his play to date. Is he surprised by his lack of development? If not, then why. Is it the Peter Principle at play? Do the bright lights make him nervous? Is he immature?
Not exactly sure how anyone complains about Gunn and Banks without including Leal and Sparks. Our bench is a bad freaking joke. But I’m guessing Woody’s top-shelf recruiters (hardly assistant coaches, because not a single one of them has accomplished a damn thing) would disagree. How these clowns have big time jobs is beyond me.
Crean missed the tournament more times than he made it. The hell are you talking about? Why do you think he was fired? Woodson starts missing the tournament at the rate of Crean he’ll be shown the door as well.
Because I never expected anything from sparks or leal at all. Gunn and banks were suppose to be rotation players. I really hope those who mentioned earlier this year sparks being a starter next year realize that would be a disaster. He is not good.
Crean missed it early when the program was a mess and then missed it late when OG was hurt. In between he was in the sweet 16. Where we haven’t been since he left.
I've lived in Ind most my life, went to IU....and I know maybe 3 IU b-ball fan/ND football fans out of hundreds of IU fans.
My question would be where was Walker in the second half? Maybe I’m wrong but I thought he played fairly well the first half.
Gunn and Banks are athletic with higher ceilings. Leal and Sparks are what they are, limited ability and athleticism.
Don’t disagree, but they’re on scholarships and probably reaping some NIL. Clearly overpaid by any reasonable measure.
There are a ton of kids that kill it in high school that never do anything in D1. A ton.
Hopefully Gunn develops into a contributing D1 guy but plenty of guys don’t.
Plus, X is injury prone and not a super consistent shooter. Gotta have guards that can create and shoot: Woody isn't getting it done in this department, which is weird because this is what his offense is based on.
It a HUGE concern because Geronimo and Bates have gone on to be all-American talents. . It’s literally unbelievable that Woody didn’t unleash those incredible talents. Good call.
We need contributions from the bench. Gunn and Banks are both athletic, but don’t seem to be much better than last season. We didn’t land a guard in the portal. The responsibility has to lie somewhere, and Woody just got a million dollar raise.
We don’t currently have any quality out of conference wins, and the B1G overall just isn’t good. We are likely going to have win 12+ games in conference, and beat Purdue at least once, to have a chance IMO.
This is what I dont get. Why did he get a million dollar raise though? Ok, he made the Ncaa's twice but also had one of the best big's ever at IU. These AD's are so quick to give people raised its alarming. Result? This group of guards. Bottom 3-4 group in the B1G. Mind boggling.
IU basketball is a mediocre mid major, has been for the last 30 years. It’s truly amazing the fan support it gets considering what a shitty product they turn out every year.
Banks and Gunn need to go neither has showed anything why the should be playing at Indiana. The roster needs major rehaul more shooters and ball handlers. If those guys transfer we could have 7 open scholarships and depending on Newton if he is Creek 2.0 maybe 8.
Will have to finish 12-8 I'd think. 11-9 and its magic needed again in the conference tournament.
I hope the best for him. He has that sweet little girl and I hope she grows up to be a blessed woman.
Not with how terrible the BIG is. Need to go 13-7 or 14-6. Our NET is horrible.
NET is dumb. Even dumber that if we win our next 3 by an average of 30 we will jump 50ish spots.
