Didn't Trump criticize Pres. Obama playing golf?

It's really only an ethical issue if the Secret Service is paying more than the property would otherwise earn if they weren't there. For example, Biden rented a guest house to the SS after his normal renters moved out. They paid the fair market value of what Biden would have earned had he rented it to someone else. Not an issue.

Obviously, Trump's large properties are more complicated than a guest house, but in theory the same should hold. If the SS is taking space that would otherwise be paid for by someone else, there is nothing wrong with SS paying fair value. If, on the other hand, they are taking space that would otherwise remain empty, I would argue that the ethical thing would be for SS to only pay enough to cover expenses.

I’m surprised Fox hasn’t zeroed in on the Biden thing to justify Trump making money off the presidency. After all, they used a Biden speech that was hypothetical to hijack a SCOTUS seat.

you must be kidding.

the only way you could argue it's ethical, is if all the rooms that were rented due to Trump's visit would have been rented anyway, and at the same price or more.

i highly doubt that's the case.

on a side note, it would also be of interest to see who have joined the clubs, and at what price, since DT became prez.

anyone who has joined looking for access or favor, is essentially making a bribe.

with most politicians, bribes and payoffs often have to be in the form of delayed payment after office. (speaking fees, board seats, consulting, lobbying, book deals, etc), with Trump, you can just pay him up front.

someone hoping to buy influence and access could just rent a floor or two at one of his properties during a down time when they otherwise wouldn't be occupied. everything they pay out is virtually 100% profit, as renting rooms or whole floors have basically zero incremental costs associated.

that said, Reagan and the Clintons have shown just how efficient a means of delayed payment those million dollar speaking fees can be.

with Trump, there will be so many other imaginative ways no one in the media has even thought about yet, to funnel money for the moneyed interests to the Donald.

of course with speaking fees, even a 1 or 2 mil speaking fee still only brings in 1 or 2 mil for a couple hours effort.

with Trump and real estate, someone could easily concoct a tens or hundreds of millions of dollars bribe, (or more), that could be pawned off and dressed up as a legit business deal.

You just described the Clinton Foundation. Only it has done what you described.
