Did Archie Miller strike gold with Armaan Franklin? - IDS

I hope Armann has a huge chip on his shoulder from that ridiculously low rating and makes the raters eat their words. Of course, if he does play really well for the rest of the year those raters will NOT admit they were wrong: they will say he "improved" way more after his high school season then anyone could have have predicted and that their ratings were accurate when they were given.

What I said last winter about Franklin was that I liked that he was a defense-first guard who could also shoot, and that he had good size and athleticism to be a good player for IU.

After very early reviews, the only thing to add is that he seems to have a lot of confidence in himself and his teammates heading into the start of the season.

It would be great if Franklin became a guy IU could put on 6'6" star SG's, like they did with VO and Fife. It gives him a chance to play a lot of minutes. Remy Abel was a bit that way but lacked the overall abilities, particularly offensively, to stay on the floor.

It is good news to see Armaan ready to be a contributer as a freshman. I don't think he will be the offensive spark that Jordan Crawford was as a frosh, but it does look like he will play, and sooner rather than later.

I rarely have expectations for freshman...I just don't...and sometimes it just turns out that one makes an impact and I'm pleasantly surprised...hope this is the case here...sounds like it may be...

h20pls..
No expectations on Freshmen.?
None on Cody ? Yogi? or Romeo ?
If Cal had that thought.. He wouldn't have a job.
I have expectations on all of the Hoosiers.
Just not crazy ones.

Some of these recruits are, what I call. late bloomers, as they may be only 17 years old most of their Sr seasons in HS... Others are hard workers and devote much needed extra work on their skills as coach Miller may have suggested during this past summer... Nothing replaces dedication and hard work...

why be a douche to someone for no reason?

So, you generated another screen name to defend your previous/other one(s)? Very lame and pretty much a dead giveaway in light of your failure to capitalize using either handle.

Just because you are oblivious to a thing (and no doubt as to much else) does not mean it does not exist.

QED

Don’t get me wrong I can be a huge dick, but it is almost always in response to a tiny peened fella behind his keyboard.

Telling to spend so much time and verbiage referencing male genitalia.

I never shy away from my opinions in any situation.

More's the pity.

That is exactly what has made VO

I attend almost every game, many of them don’t leave the confines of their basement. They have spent years growing and online persona and their true friends in life are others like them, anonymous posters on an Internet board, sad.

I am actually much worse to people in person if I find them to be rude, dumb or any other thing that pisses me off. I never shy away from my opinions in any situation.
I’m waiting on my oil change....get back to work.

I had never seen him play live until Tuesday night. He instantly struck me as a player who has a real feel for the game and great instincts. He could be something special.
I saw him play multiple times in HS. Franklin was under-rated nationally.

That's because you're too dumb to know you're too dumb. If you knew how dumb you were, you would finally stfu.

I must really erk you. Wish you would do it in real life, would be fun ending you.

Accusing another of being (sic) erk-ed (the word is 'irk') while you're threatening to snuff him? I'd say he's guilty of grossly overrating your intelligence.

What I noticed last year was his athleticism. He also shot it very well in games I saw.

Solid analysis IMO. He comes with intensity, size/conditioning, solid basics and as evidenced even in a scrimmage ready to play. I would love him to become our lock down defender who is not a liability on the offense. Hopeful signs ...

You use words like a struggling artist in the depression era. I would make him stop talking like he is above people. No snuffing needed. Probably wouldn’t have to lay a finger on him to make him cry.

Mere glimpse of you would doubtless reduce most to tears.

He sure seems like a guy that's a lot better than the #151st ranked player in the country.

This time the sensitive mod banned my IP address. Lol.
8?!? How can anyone be banned so often? Maybe you should think about what you're posting.

Not to mention the crap that Dakich said about him and his family.

Watched the scrimmage against Gannon, and to me Armaan’s defensive stance and movements look a lot like VO. May not have the same hops, but hopeful he has similar success at IU

Franklin is a lot more polished as a freshman than Victor. He has a real feel for the game on the court. He comes off screens really well, and I'm excited about that. Very natural combo guard. Vic was a defensive assassin with incredible hops but everything else came along slowly.

More polished than Victor Franklin may be, but I do remember IU would have lost an exhibition game if Vic hadn’t put the team on his back the final few minutes and willed the win.

Yes, Archie struck gold with Armaan Franklin. Franklin looks smooth and confident with the ball in his hands, is a very good shooter, good ball handler, good rebounder for a guard, he is a great passer, and an excellent defensive player. Franklin's 3 biggest strengths are shooting, passing, and being engaged and active defensively, with a good defensive stance and sound fundamental footwork and defensive positioning. Franklin looks to be a very solid Freshman player at IU that appears to be ahead of the learning curve for a Freshman.

Victor was more explosive. Franklin is more polished fundamentally.
