Dallas James

"graduated from South Carolina State with a 4.0 GPA with a major in electrical engineering technology" so my guess is he's not graduating here just finishing out his eligibility (COVID year?).

"father, Jerome, played 11 years in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings, the Seattle Supersonics, and the New York Knicks" so he may be here because his dad knows Woodson? I am just speculating on why he would be here, vs. anywhere else -- not trying to cast any negative light on the man.

Don't sell yourself short; it's not mere speculation ... I think you're spot-on. Nepotism is the only thing that makes sense--we know that's what the last four years have been about.

Haven't followed it, at all...maybe he's getting a masters degree too? Sounds like he was a pretty dedicated student at his last stop. All of these things could be true. Obviously though, Woodson could have given one of the walk ons a scholly, instead of gifting it to James...if that's what happened.

he was brought here to push ballo in practice, was told he wouldn't play was fine with it, brilliant kid

Waste of a scholly, especially in hindsight as we finish the season with nine healthy guys willing to play and that includes Carlyle and Hatton.

It was obvious during the last spring portal this team needed an elite and athletic 6'7" or so defensive stopper to play spot minutes when Goode, Mgbako, Ballo, and Reneau's average at best defensive efforts on the perimeter needed to be benched.

When was the last time there was a moderate level of confidence in Roster Construction? Late Crean, 2016?

I'm 95% confident next seasons roster construction will once again be flawed and frustrate me. So, looking forward to the '27 season to see if that program flaw finally gets corrected.

Oh boy. Yeah, who wouldn't want to be wildly overpaid to sit on the bench and (perhaps?) continue his education at IU?

He would have sat wherever he went, so why not get a bag while doing so?
"Wildly overpaid", so what exactly did he receive? You must know by describing him as wildly overpaid. He made more in NIL as a 15th man never playing than he would have as a mechanical engineer?

Yeah, I can’t believe we didn’t identify an “elite and athletic” 6’7 defensive stopper that was willing to be the 5th forward off the bench for spot minutes….

Higher than it would be anywhere else is my guess.
You keep guessing at things and then basing an argument off of those guesses. You see how one might question the accuracy, right? Seems to me like you are just using it as another opportunity to talk trash about the program. Seems Painter had you pegged.

I'm not trash talking the program, per se; I'm trash talking the Mike Woodson regime. Quinn made a nepotism hire--one that no other D1 program would have made--and the Bigfoot Brigade has been pilfering money fron the university ever since. If you think MW deserves to be the 13th highest-paid coach in CBB, then great.

You have your narrative, I have mine. It's fairly obvious which one holds more water.

The 12th and 13th men could always be described in your book as a waste of a scholarship. And that definition would have included Anthony Leal and countless others that were at the end of the bench in the early years of their career and hardly played then came on to contribute. This may not be the case with James, but the guys at the end of bench add value beyond what you see. It is kind of ignorant to say a kid is a waste. Who knows, he bangs on Ballo and Malik everyday and he is a big body. Teams need that.

Yep...all you have to do is look at the facts. IU fans force coaches out, and then 4 years later, repeat. It's why no big time coach will touch this job. Congratulations.

Fine, you win. It's our fault Woody can't do shit with a $6M payroll. It's our fault Louisville bitch-slapped IU in the Bahamas. It's our fault IU can't beat Northwestern. Etc. Etc. Etc

I, as a fan, take full responsibility. Happy?

No stupid...you still don't get it. It's your fault Woodson was ever hired, and why no bigtime coaches want the job. Now do you get it?

No...they were factual. You dont like that, so you refute them, without anything to back it up. Kind of like a 3rd grader
Sure it was factual. Like any other fan base.

Weird, though
I don't see Self blaming fans for KU struggles rhis year.
Or Cal blaming fans..
Or Hurley blaming fans at UConn..
Or Hubert st UNC..

WEIRD, huh? Guess only in Bloomington do the fans cause bad play.

Bunch of soft ass, Karen's

Nobody said fans cause bad play. Fans cause coaches to not want to come here with unrealistic expectations and criticism. But you knew that already, you just wanted to make your story sound good. You must be a democrat. Lol

While I agree that we certainly have some fans that are delusional. May I ask if previous coaches have met what you would deem realistic expectations when you consider the resources and talent base at their disposal?

what if, and I'm just spitballimg here. But lets say said coach is hired, and well, he sets his own expectations. I dunno, let's say he says something like--" I'm here to win B10 titles..and national titles.."

Now what?

What unrealistic expectations you think I, or others have? What...competing for conference titles, and being relevant at the national level? That's unrealistic for a place.like Indiana? Shit bro, they expect that at Purdue.

Go play in traffic. Troll somewhere else.

IU was wrong for getting rid of Crean when they did. He brought the program back, and IU fans stabbed him in the back, and forced him out 1 season after winning the BIG10. I didn't always like his sideline antics, or the defense, or some of the things that happened in recruiting. But the man worked his ass off and brought it back to National relevance. He deserved a chance to right the ship. I believe the last 8 years, and probably 8 more, is nothing but Karma.
