Cupps

His point was that there is redundancy on this years team. I don’t think anyone will argue that Liam isn’t having a better start than Mack last year. However, the comparison that matters is how they compare this year. Mgbako is averaging 22 and 8 and shooting percentages are 70+, 60+, and 90. Could we use Liam? Sure. Yet we have a player performing better so we will be fine. I’m not a woody apologist. I’m just an IU fan that refuses to give up on the season regardless of my feelings on the coach.
thank you, Liam may have assumed MM was one and done when he committed, he aint here so i dont give a shit about him

Gabe will transfer after the season!
You want experienced guards playing. They don't have any guards signed for next season and will lose 2 which would leave Rice, Carlyle and Newton which would leave them needing 2 more. Broken record trying to fill rolls when you already have a guy in the system who can play. Makes no sense to wish him gone.

Cupps should not play meaningful mins for IU ever, he is not good enough.
Not until he becomes productive somehow. Which he hasn't been. Doesn't make mistakes but doesn't do enough to play in front of anyone we have. I'd rather see Leal get minutes....

Id rather never see them play. If they are playing we are in trouble. This team should play 8, and Hatton if needed if Ballo and Malik are in foul trouble. Newton isn't ready to play (doubt he ever will be sadly)

No, they could be playing because we have a big lead, which I hope we see often.
But, regardless, we need another true pg next year with B10 caliber talent.

I think once we get to conference play. It will be an 8 man rotation with the 8 we saw vs SC.

Agreed, but I still like Hatton getting some run time with the rotation players. Keeps him prepared if called upon. He moves well and moves the ball well when he is in. Could be a big advantage if our guys get in foul trouble.

Edit: If healthy, I wonder if JN can come in and lock down on the other teams best perimeter scorer for short runs?

I like what I've seen of Hatton and would imagine with Ballo and Reanu in front of him, he's going to get some minutes backing them up due to fouls/blows. Plus I think he might add another dimension with his shooting possibly. I'm not saying I want him to play, but I think he'll find his way into games in that kind of role.

I like what I've seen out of Carlyle and Rice on D in the backcourt, they are bringing more pressure on the ball. That means they will have their man get by them more often, but with Ballo in the paint, that's a good security blanket. I never trust a guy who's not seen a minute of PT at the college level as a lock down defender. Heard a lot of that about one of the freshman at PU being a lockdown defender and crickets since the season started. Also heard a review of MM by Rick Bozich in which he praised his D and I think that's been by far his biggest challenge since coming here.

Hatton looks mobile and aware, but I don't thin he'll be able to finish against Big 10 level players.

Got cooked and fell over in his first two defensive trips today.

Got the ball handed to him on the next play. Dont let that fool you into thinking he did something good.

I was at the game, so didn't hear it, but apparently Cupps was held out with an injury? Is this old news?
