how this develops has the potential to be the most impactful presidential move for quite some time.
I fear that his original “we’ll own Gaza” and “send all the Palestinians somewhere else” statements will be used for terrorist recruiting for quite some time.

And why do we want to take social security out of Americans pockets to fund a real estate venture in the Middle East and put our troops and contractors in harm? Is that America first?
Have you been to Israel before? If you have you’d know they already have beautiful Tel Aviv on the coastline with beaches, down south bordering Jordan is Eilat which has year round hot weather and topless beaches. This part of the world does not need resorts in Gaza. They need a solution for the Palestinians that “ARE” peaceful. Jordan and Egypt will not take them. This much we already know. There’s a reason they live so densely in Gaza. We should not trade the relative peace we have with Egypt and Jordan to destabilize the Middle East just so we develope Gaza into a resort for vacationers.
As a democrat I can get behind the shrinking of our government so long as it’s done legally. But in terms of foreign policy this is a terrible idea! I think you guys know I’m somewhat of a moderate, I think there will be strong bipartisan support against this idea.
I will say this, obviously the initial reaction is very negative, but we need to see something on paper. We need to see what funding looks like, what the plan for the Palestinians looks like, how will this area be secured, what will be the mix use of this real estate and I’m sure there’s questions I haven’t thought of yet.

Good question. Plunging us into some massive nation building seems like it's the opposite of austere federal spending. I'm sure DOGE will be right on it.
This is so dumb. Even if that is the desired end result, the effects of Trump proposing literal ethnic cleansing will be felt for years to come.
Convince me these people exist. There is no way that hundreds of hostages were kept for this long without regular Gazan support. They showed their colors when Hamas made their attacks on 10/7. I don't believe for a second anyone in Gaza is worthwhile.
My understanding is that Elon makes about eight million dollars per day on his government contracts. I'm sure that amount can be upped a little so that he looks in other directions!
I think we should draft MAGA voters to be the boots on the ground when we occupy Gaza. As a kicker, they can get the "Best Of" albums for Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith and Kid Rock for the plane ride over.
I think it recently was upped a little. I think this is more of that chess vs checkers thing dmb was talking about.
