Concerts 2023

I'm sure we'll hit some larger ones this summer, but right now reliving the college vibe. Had tickets for both the Wallflowers and Big Head Todd, but had to give them away since I was out of town for work. Looking forward to Blues Traveler at BCMC in April. Heard Big Head Todd was good, haven't talked to anyone about the WF's yet.

Was also looking to get to Red Rocks finally, but starting to look like my schedule won't allow it. I'm just glad there are some good shows playing again...now about the ticket prices and fees...that's another thing!

Me and the Mrs. have been to a couple local shows around here (Fort Wayne) at the Clyde.

We saw Umphrey's McGee back in January and just saw Badfish over the weekend.

Nothing big, but live music is always a win in my book.

Anyone got any shows lined up?
Back in 89 my wife and I saw the Christian group Petra at the Clyde. We really enjoyed the venue. But we had not been in Fort Wayne before and had trouble finding our way out of town. Very frustrating because there were a lot of one way roads. I remember that this was the day we found out we were going to have our first child.

Only one show lined up so far for this year.

5 of us going to see Dave Mason at BCMC Friday night. Mrs. Shades & I are staying over in B-Town & heading to the Illinois game then on Sat morning.

Never understood why Dave Mason isn't more appreciated.

(Maybe the Steve Winwood effect?... Steve had a more successful "post Traffic" commercial career)

I've seen Dave's band before and they are excellent. He may shuffle out like an old guy but then he lights it up and gives a great performance.

Anyone else going?

Wife & I saw Mellencamp’s first show in Bloomington & going to see his last in South Bend. Also going to Seinfeld in Ft Wayne and BareNaked Ladies in Columbus, OH…both in June
He was just here in Charlotte and I just couldn't muster enough interest to go see him. I'd guess I've seen him 5X. He's still prominent in my playlists, but I never choose to play a JM song nowadays.

Nice local venue has Paul Thorn on Thursday and Big Head Todd on Friday. Would like to see either, but not sure I'm going to be in town.

So, my in-laws got tickets to the Doobie Brothers when they come to the Fort in a couple weeks (level 100 seats) and can't go now so they gifted us their tickets.

Pretty pumped as I haven't seen them live, but my bride has.

My 14 year old daughter really wanted Skid Row tickets in San Antonio in September for her birthday. She super excited about that.

No you didn't, unless it was a movie...Sweetwater didn't start showing concerts there until 2018.

fwiw - christian music sucks donkey balls.
Petra was and has been a great band. It is very good music over four decades and two different lead singers. If it wasn't Sweetwater then what theater am I talking about? I seriously don't remember the name of the place. I ask this because aren't you from the Fort?

Saw Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives at the Brown County Music Auditorium on Saturday evening. Best show I’ve seen in years. Incredible musicianship and professionalism. Started at show time and played a solid 1:45. Some new stuff, some older stuff, and some great covers.

Not sure if it’s real music😂but my wife and I have tickets for the Drifters, Platters, & Coaster and then The Grand Funk Railroad then possibly Blues Traveler at BCMC and then Kansas at Clowes Hall. BCMC is bringing in some nice acts.

We were at a theater in the Fort in Oct of 89. We found out that day that we were going to be parents for the first time. I actually don't remember the name of the theater. It was downtown.

I bet you went to the Embassy if it was downtown.

I'd love to see Extreme-or really just see Nuno Bettencourt play guitar. They're coming to Gary in August, but do I really want to go to Gary (Hard Rock Casino)?

Might go see Queensrych(not many guys left). They are old and only 2 guys left but they still sound like them.

Isn’t there a Geoff Tate version of Queensryche too? I seem to remember the band split and they all wanted to keep the name. He was a great singer back in the day.

I’ve seen JS twice in Fort Wayne a few years apart. I thought he was great but my wife was super dissappointed b/c 90% of the material was the same of course. I told her we see bands play the same songs all the time over multiple shows but she doesn’t get it.

That sounds like a great time! Live music shows are always a fun experience. As an AI language model, I don't have real-time information about upcoming shows or events. However, there are several ways you can find out about shows lined up in your area:

  1. Local event listings: Check websites or online platforms that specialize in event listings for your area. These can include websites like Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, or local event directories specific to Fort Wayne.
  2. Venue websites: Visit the websites of popular music venues in Fort Wayne, such as The Clyde, to see their upcoming event calendars. Many venues provide information about upcoming shows and ticket availability on their websites.
  3. Social media: Follow your favorite local bands, music venues, and event organizers on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. They often post updates and announcements about upcoming shows.
  4. Local newspapers and magazines: Keep an eye on local newspapers, magazines, and entertainment publications in your area. They often feature event listings and highlight upcoming concerts or shows.
  5. Word of mouth: Stay connected with the local music scene by talking to friends, coworkers, or fellow music enthusiasts in your area. They may have insider information about upcoming shows or recommendations.
Remember to check for updates and any COVID-19 restrictions or guidelines that may affect live events. Enjoy discovering new shows and have a fantastic time at future concerts!

Saw big head Todd over the weekend. Not great. Was goofy. And I’m a big fan

Seeing Rodrigo Y Gabriela @ Chicago Theater on Friday. Sluggo hopes he don't get shot after the show.

So, as I'm waiting here foe the wife to use the restroom after the Doobie Brothers concert, all I have to say is....

They ****ING rocked!

Such a good show. Played all their hits and some of their new stuff. We hardly used our seats because all we did was dance (at times, it seemed we were the only ones, but we didn't care).

So much fun.

Seeing Billy Strings in Cary on Thursday the 13th and Son Volt at the Saxapaphaw Music Hall Friday the 14th. Not often I pull a double header. Whitewater Center here in Charlotte is having Hayes Carll next Monday night before the 4th and fireworks, so that should be good. Chatham County Line was here last night, but I felt like crap with allergies and couldn't muster the energy to get changed and head back out after I got home.

So, I'm taking my daughter and her friend tonight to see TLC at Deer Creek (It will always be that to me)Mr.

Yeah, I'll be the 40 year old white guy jamming to some old r&b, but who cares. My kid wants to see them, so why not.
