I actually don't think she'll win.
There are a couple (at least) state senators running and I suspect Alaska doesn't need the black eye that is Sarah Palin.
I have no idea. I thought Alaska was trying out a new voting system - not sure if it applies to this race or Nov

I am 100 percent against mail in voting EXCEPT for Alaska. I know quite a bit about the state and it's many villages. I'd venture to say half my television viewing involves Alaska - whether we're searching for gold, catching crab, or flying bush planes. This is a place that needs to mail in ballots.

Apparently, in Alaska's strange new electoral system, the special election was also the primary for the general election, so the top four finishers in the special will also be the finalists in November. In other words, it's basically a rematch.
Peltola did not win a majority on the first round. She became the winner after the other candidates were eliminated in the ranked-choice contest. In other words, quite a few people voted for Republican Begich, but had Peltola ranked higher than Palin.

Here's the thing for me...Sarah Palin as a House Rep is actually appropriate. It would have actually been appropriate when she was a VP candidate instead. She and AOC are extremely appropriate comparables. She's a carnival barker, but honestly Sarah Palin isn't even Top 5 bonkers in the House. I'm not sure that she'd be Top 10.
And those folks are rank amateurs in the bonkers competition in comparison to DJT.

Not just me. Plenty of Republicans lifted the Dem candidate to the win.
This shows ranked-choice voting might be the solution we need. It might reward moderates in lieu of the crazies.
Would love to get away from most races being ultra right vs ultra left
Senator Cotton has come out saying that this proves rank choice voting is bunk. So I wouldn’t hold my breath here.

She is a former mayor and governor. She also can make moose chili. I bet Biden has never been a mayor,governor or moose chili maker.
She quit as Governor part way through her term. That's why even most Republican Alaska voters don't want her elected.
