Though I'd generally agree, as the habitual bitching tends to occur when there's no cause for it, losing by 28 to a rinky dink team ... well ... there's cause for it today.
You listed every reason to complain.
Same ole, same ole. Woodson is a mediocre coach at best. Thems the facts. He does less with more than any coach I’ve seen. His teams regularly have lots of turnovers, give up offensive rebound after offensive rebound to the opposition, play terrible defense, etc. Each season they will get into a “groove” for 2-4 games straight and correct those weaknesses, but they always go back to this shit basketball. A new coach can’t get to IU soon enough. Contrast his undisciplined teams with Cignetti’s highly disciplined team and it’s easy to see who the real coach is.
We've been saying "maybe they'll learn something" after games like this way too often for the past three seasons. The learning isn't happening.
Thank you for the advice. Spent the past 15 minutes chilling out and thinking good thoughts. It’s time to extend Woodson and make him a top-5 paid coach as he’s worthy of this.
I think OP needs to recognize that there's something of a trend at play (understatement) and it's not just a bad game that people are reacting to.

We lost to a new coach new system pretty much a rebuild unacceptable and it wasn't even close this is not Auburn, Purdue, or Uconn last season it's Lousville 8-24 last season..
I'm one of those old timers and I can tell you the old timers have years of experience watching quality basketball; including IU's heyday and multiple nat'l championships. My wife and I traveled to Atlanta last year to watch a game eerily similar to the game today; IU layed an egg in that game too. I could go back and pull up the posts suggesting the old timers chill after that game too; telling us to let the season play out. Well, the season is certainly young but the similarities are not . . . we've seen this over and over now. Still, I was more chill today watching IU basketball than I've been in years because I now expect these games to happen several times per year. Can the team turn it around? Sure, its possible but it would certainly have to be the team stepping it up because we've already witnessed the ceiling of Woodson's coaching ability.

Yeah, I have no doubt today will be the wake up call this team needed. It’s never happened to a Woodson team before, but today was the day!

er um, no. My hope was that Woodson would remember his days with Knight with a focus on preparation and fundementals. That is not what we got. We have to let this season play out (what other choice do we have) but if the results are the same or worse, the plug needs to be pulled.

You know when a team is being coached up and when they're not. There is no diving for balls, getting in rebound position, fighting off blocks....any real effort plays. Way too many jump shots that end in the shooter just falling backwards and running the opposite way he should. It's not missed assignments or bad luck, this team is NOT being coached. In ANY capacity. It's beyond obvious that the only thing carrying them is their talent and talent alone.
It's a bummer because I have sat with Woodson and had cigars and bourbon chatting for hours and I genuinely think he's a good guy. He loves IU....but I'll call a spade a spade and this isn't it.
The world is waiting for you young man. This team and coach make real money and when they are not giving the effort it takes to become successful, fans who support them with their time, donations, tickets and merchandise sales, are going to complain. The NIL and the transfer portal have sadly turned it into big business. Loved it more when it was just a game. Go Hoosiers!
I have no doubt he's a good guy and loves IU and I fondly remember him as a player (one of the greats) and even respect that he achieved some things as a coach in the NBA (though I didn't watch/didn't care). But he's not getting it done as a college coach. Whatever the reason, he's had more than enough time to show that it's something he can do. He hasn't. Also, NIL donations won't continue to flow into a losing program. Something has to change.
I don't mind that they got beat either, but I do mind that Woodson did not (a) seem to care or (b) seem to know what to do about it.
College basketball has plenty of stoppages and other free timeouts for coaches to straighten things out. Woodson was not even able to get Cupps subbed out of the game at the end of the first half. Woodson needs to have the balls to yank a player out of the game without hesitation for bonehead stupidity.
Lord knows he had plenty of chances to do that against Louisville, and he get more chances to do that in the next game (Gonzaga). No reason to expect that Woodson will change.
That’s probably where you’re overreacting … Yes, Louisville has a new coach, but also the only player on this Louisville team that was also on last year’s is walk-on Aidan McCool. This Louisville team also has 8 players with either 4, 5 or 6 years of experience. Six of those 8 today each played 23 minutes or more.
