Carter Smith coming back to IU!

Two INDIANA fans arguing over who we should host next 😉:

Or that could just be the walk through before they deal with a Grizzly. 😎
(My avatar says that's most likely the case.)!

There was probably only one player who left that we could not afford to lose and we got him back. That's big. He was definitely the hardest guy to replace. McCauley would be nice to get back, but if we don't we'll still be ok.

I'd like to see Carpenter (our Center) come back too. He appeared to get better as the season progressed...

Imo, either one of McCulley or Camper would be nice. I think Camper was easily our best receiver when healthy. If we can get him back and at 100% I think he has the chance to put up some big numbers next year.

I'd love to get both back and pair them with the new offensive minds. DM played awesome in those last 4-5 games. Also, Camper really showed flashes in 2022 before he got hurt. He is a really underrated guy!

I have confidence in Bob Bostad's ability to get & develop a better OL than last yr. Same for Coach Kuntz on the DL. Just a different energy surrounding the IUFB program now.
Yes kinda says it all. Contrast in '23' staff to the past resume owned by the'24' staff is striking. Adding BB and Cignetti's IU support group offers even more able management of details when instructing the talent they recruit. Makes me honestly believe Cignetti saying he fights complacency earnestly every day.

Can Katic come back?
The way I understand it, as long as he hasn't signed with an agent he Can comeback...

More NCAA hypocrisy there... Like every other player out there isn't already technically a professional since they're now allowed to be paid for their efforts...

They need to lose the agent signing rule and just put in a date deadline to be able to return along with a rule that says if you actually sign with a pro team you can't comeback (just because you have to cut it off somewhere so these coaches can do some roster management)..., in my opinion...

I can’t seem to find anything regarding football that clearly states a player can return once they have declared. You can do an early entry process for NBA and withdraw, but I don’t see anything similar to that for football. Everything I have read in my quick search says that once you declare you forfeit your college eligibility, but there could be an exception clause I’m not finding.

Is anyone else as amused as I am by some of the draft announcements? Dequece Carter??? He wasn’t even a top 3 receiver for a 3 win team and he thinks he’ll get drafted??? 😂😂😂

Especially now with NIL it makes no sense to me that guys are going early. I’d get my education and pull in those NIL dollars if I were DC. I don’t know about Katic or Noah Pierre. Neither of those guys strike me as a clear chance of getting drafted, but they may get picked up for a tryout after the draft. I just don’t get these early draft entries. If they’re unhappy they should transfer and take advantage of the NIL opportunities. They may not make the roster or practice squad even if they get an invite and may earn more off their NIL and college degree.
