Idk what to make of the tariffs. If they’re reciprocal in an effort to get the opposing party to lower tariffs, more power to him. If they serve some sort of national security purpose like with Mexico and China, then great.

Trump hates Trudeau. He's jealous of his charisma, his (US) popularity, and his youth and good looks. He looks at him like a Kanukistani Obama. He's determined to make him bend the knee or he'll go to war. Civilian casualties are of no concern.
Maybe not specifically, but there's something to that.
The whole 51st state and Governor shtick is just trolling. He ad-libbed it and got some lulz and has been going back with it ever since.
