Last terms ouster of Mike McCarthy was an embarrassment.

Gaetz isn’t present to to muck up today’s proceedings.

Failure to elect a Republican Speaker today is not acceptable.

Kickoff time is 12pm EST.

Johnson has done as well with his psycho caucus as could be expected. He's a hack, but he's not an anarchist.
He had agreed to single source bills before the Christmas break. That is something Republicans have advocated for in the past. He caved.

He may end up being effective…time will tell.

Single source bills for what.. appropriations?
I apologize for the wording…was getting ready to jump in the truck and head out.

Farm bailouts

Clean CR

Disaster relief

Debt limit

He combined them all into one vote once Jeffries told him he had the votes for one big bill

Single issue bills would be far better. Far more transparent. Save a fortune on taxpayers’ money. But the nature of the process, expediency, etc renders same nearly impossible. Single subject bills pass the house all the time but like other shit rarely senate. There aren’t enough hours in the year to legislate this way. So they roll multiple policy issues into the fewest topical bills which facilitates voting and the ability to get shit done.

Our entire system needs an overhaul

Also leverage by opposition party. Party A has priority 1, 2, 3... Party B 4, 5, 6.

Hostage taking, pass it all or get nothing, etc....

Republicans don't have a governing majority in House so have to use Dems to pass any funding bill
