Drives me nuts. The girl (young woman, sorry) has a nice voice, but when she ends the ad with Mimi's aria from La Boheme all I can think is "It has words, Dammit!" All she's doing is singing "Ahhhhh". Very nicely, to be sure, but it has words!

I agree.

She should've sung as the way it was supposed to be. Maybe she figured the audience would not understand it.

I was told that Angelo Pizzo did that for the university.

Nice!

I had to google the name - best National Anthem ever.

Link to hear it done properly

Skip the ad after 4 seconds. Best to listen to the entire aria, but the part featured in the commercial is at 2:25

Si mi chiamano Mimi

It's a clever allegory by Pizzo

The sheer poverty of the artists' garret, the bone chilling cold.... it all refers to the seeming hopelessness of IU basketball.

"That gentle perfume of a flower! But the flowers that I make....Ah me! they have no fragrance!"

This is clearly a reference to the false promises and failure to deliver real "flowers" by the dreaded Crean.

But Mimi sings of hope, heaven, and looking forward to the coming "Spring thaw", a veiled reference to the anointed child, Brad Stevens.

Nicely done.....

and if you look closely, there's a hoop in the back of the garret.

Good to see you Euro!

Where the hell have you been???

Good ot see you back!
