Buckner vs Dolson

This is going to get ugly. Sounds like Dolson has the guy but Buckner is the hold up. Dolson has released the hounds to get in front of the PR battle. Twitter and the media has now turned on Buckner and Woodson. Buckle up kids. Get the pitchforks out.
I don't buy this at all. This is a zero percent chance Woody gets shit-canned; I don't even think it's a conversation point. I wish it were.

You never know. One thing is certain Dolson has someone big lined up. He's not starting a civil war and putting his job in jeopardy to go hire Schertz or May.
IMO, the only way Woody isn't here next season is if Dolson has Stevens or Wright lined up, which isn't realistic.

Once again, Dolson shows that he ain't the old IU AD!
I have seen on here MULTIPLE times about how it was ridiculous to give a 1M raise. Now maybe there is a method to the madness!

HUGE kudos if Dolson pulls this off!
If Dolson does pull this off be jumps to the top of my Christmas list. I just don't see it.

I know I mentioned Brad earlier but that was a joke. He hasn't even coached or recruited in the NCAA in more than a decade. Long before the portal and NIL. He's done with college ball. IMHO.

I will run naked through the neighborhood if that day comes. Because it won't.

Logistically...and thinking critically on this... I'm starting to doubt that Pearl's camp would leak much of anything about him taking a new job, unless he's angling to negotiate a bigger deal.

He has a team, right now, that could make a Final Four run. He already has what he'd seemingly be looking for, at IU...he's already making 5 million plus per year...and I'm sure he could push that number higher with some leverage and negotiations.

I don't doubt that Dolson has some interest in him...I just worry maybe he's trolling us like the Harper kid did, to get some contract negotiations going.
Pearl has a set of demands at Auburn that haven't been met, not sure this is about money.

1. Wants a basketball only facility. They currently share with WBB and volleyball
2. Wants out of the Under Armour deal. Under Armour circuit has gone to hell and it's not helping with recruiting.
3. He wants his son named coach in-waiting at Auburn

he did, he's also a cheater and is 63 years old himself. and if you watch him on the sideline may not live long. he's an upgrade on Woodson no doubt, he's also locked in long term at 5.4 mil a year. with an annual raise. I'll believe it when I see it as far as him strolling the sideline in Assembly Hall.
You may not live long either with your weekends. Dumb.

I totally missed it. So did everyone else it seems.
I think the world of Scott Dolson. He has IU rushing through his blood. He freaking loves IU. He’s responsible for millions in donations the last thirty years or more. I have zero doubt he’s going to do everything in his power to be the “Guy” responsible for bringing IUMBB back to Blue Blood status.

I have no idea what will happen except he will give it his best shot. I am supporting him no matter what happens.

Pearl had an elite 8, 2 sweet 16s, a .700 winning percentage and didn’t miss the tournament at UT in all 5 years. He had them rolling. The NCAA is a fecking farce!!!
Put me down as someone that doesn’t want to watch a Pearl coached team anymore than I want to continue to watch a Woodson coached team.

Change is needed…Pearl is not my kind of an answer

He absolutely did. 👏👏👏👏👏 for Dolson. Dolson is not who we thought he was. He’s no Fred.
If Dolson makes a move on Woody after this season, after he ditched Tom Allen- well, be still my heart- results do matter! Also I hear many rumors that players are stating if Woody returns they do not. I’ve zero clue if said rumors are valid. Willdog7 I’m sorry things didn’t work out but I’ve known for a while it wouldn’t.

Many thought Dolson would be status quo. It’s getting more apparent he’s not. Fred wouldn’t have done these moves or even tried.

Oh and that 1 million raise was genius. Dolson wrote in that asterisk of a 1 million a year buyout at the same time. He knew last year IU needed to move. We just didn’t see it. Looking like Woody is a control freak and many other flaws. So he baited him with that to get a more doable buyout.
Who didn’t see it? St Mary’s, Arizona, Miami, UConn, Auburn, Kansas, Purdue….I mean how many data points are needed to show Woody is not the coach to get us back into upper echelons of college basketball?

To be fair, these moves are mere speculation. Why don’t we wait until something actually happens before we anoint the guy as some sort of savior. I personally still believe Woodson will return next season.

I’m saying the football move, moving on from Archie. He also is setting up PR. Fred wouldn’t do any of those things. Dolson isn’t sitting in his chair waiting on a move. He’s pushing. He understands that this environment is different.

Yes but that’s doable now. Plus it has a “must seek employment” in it too. Think….
IU, along with all the other conference schools, fell into big money with the new media deal. This $12 million payout means much less in today’s environment. It’s entirely affordable now.
A decade previously, it would have been unheard of to fire both the men’s football and basketball coaches in the same season. It’s not an obstacle now. Dolson also knows that his donations dry up if he keeps him around and probably is a net loss vs paying the $12 million.

What if I told you someone named Billy D is in the mix?
The NBA season ends in mid-April, at earliest, which is a month after the portal opens. No chance.

I'd love to believe these rumors, but I'm not that gullible. I seriously doubt, for example, that someone has the inside scoop on Pearl/IU being a thing. I'd bet the ranch Dolson or anyone else hasn't reached out to him ... or will.

Just being realistic.

Not flamed out due to on court success or play, but yes, I'd agree he flamed out. I didn't recall the events surrouding his dismissal. Slimy guy. We'd be selling our souls and you better have good compliance oversight, but I believe he could build a monster here... and he knows it.

IIRC, while recruiting for the Orange, he hosted Aaron Craft to his house (and maybe others) for a BBQ during a dead period. A picture surfaced. Pearl asked Craft (not sure if he had already signed at OSU or not by this point) and his dad to lie and that was that. Maybe there was more?? Been a long time ago.

It hasnt happened yet. I was going to say that Woodson probably saved his job with these last 2 wins. Dolson probably knows that a Minnesota loss will keep him from moving on him this year. I'll believe it when I see it.
