Bucket Game Crowd Size

The TaxSlayer bowl in JAX we had over 20K on hand and were still outnumbered 2:1 by TN fans. If we get booted from the CFP IU will be in a good bowl.
I wouldn't be out of my mind disappointed.
But the CFP would be a super bowl for Indiana..
Even though I believe in CCC. It may never ever happen again.

Yes. People should not expect 1-loss seasons to be the norm. We could have more talented teams in the future that don't match this record.

This tournament is well within our grasp this year. I will be out-of-my-mind disappointed if we falter tomorrow and don't make the CFP.

Go Hoosiers!

In Iowa tonight it was 20° at kickoff, with a 4th string QB playing against a 6 win Nebraska ... a FULL STADIUM

I don't want to hear any excuses not to have every seat taken tomorrow night for an 11-1 team so close to a 12 team CFP ... That's when we will find out if IU is a "football school". ... nothing else but a packed stadium tomorrow !!!!

No matter how good Coach Cig is ... 11-1 may never happen again ... the CFP might be a one time event for IU football. Just like good NFL players that played in the Super Bowl and thought they would make it back, never did ... you just don't know what will happen in the future of college football.

Even with the freezing weather I did not see anything that would slow down Rourke's passing game. Nebraska receivers were doing their normal dropped passes when wide open.

So will IU fans show up in force in cold weather and possible snow flurries?

There have been many Oaken Bucket games on Thanksgiving Saturday. In fact I can't remember when they were not played on that Saturday. I know the students are gone but someone said housing, sororities and frats open Saturday morning so there is a possibility a lot of students will be back in time for the game. Will there will be the normal size student crowd? I wonder though about the crowd size. Even after winning, it's going to be cold, a night game, holiday weekend ... all good excuses for fans not to show up. Like the old days.

Ticket prices online trending in a way that there are going to be a lot of empty seats. Is that possible at 10-1 and a chance to pound Purdue? Will lack of crowd noise be a factor? After all, as bad as they are, the Boilees did score 49 against Illinois with a hellacious 2nd half comeback.

Personally I think IU covers the point spread and possibly doing that by halftime ... yet I still wonder about the crowd size.
The bucket game has only been played on the Saturday after Thanksgiving for 15 years. Before that, it was played before Thanksgiving.

There aren’t very many good seats for sale online. Mostly corners. It really looks like scalpers bought up Purdue thinking they’d make bank and they’re losing their tail now.

Now 10,000 students might not show up. Just never know. I’m guessing 47,000.

Anything less than a full house will be disappointing. Needs to be full start to finish. And the crowd should give a Guinness record book long standing ovation to the team and coaches at the end.

I’ll be there with family and grandkids . I wish it wasn’t a nite game , but tv makes the decisions . I think it is smarter to have nite games early in the season when the temps are hot , and later when it’s colder to be a day game . TV doesn’t care about the fans , or if the stadium is empty as long as they have a game to show .
Just got back from the game , and while the weather was cold and snowy , the game itself was awesome . I stayed the whole game , and was really impressed by both our offense and defense . The Hoosiers played a dominant game on both sides of the ball . Now let’s get ready for the playoffs .

Kudos to all of us fans and students who showed up and showed out tonight on what was a very cold and snowy late kickoff. When many expected a thinner crowd, myself included, it was a packed house and loud the whole game, even when only the die hards were left. Fantastic to see such a big turnout in the parking lots and the stands. There wasn't a huge difference between this one and the last few in terms of crowd size before and at the kickoff. What an amazing experience this season has been.

Again, you were right
I just felt like buzz I’d heard about students requesting places open early made me think they were really excited. Gotta admit I was worried at all the last minute tickets popping up. But I knew when traffic was backed up from Martinsville on we were good. Worth every single frozen body part. ( I actually was ok thanks to all the advice here!)

Same here. Sure Cig leaves me no reason to question our capability to do this again, but history tells me it's far from a certainty. I wanted to stick around and take it in until the end.

The fake punt up 38 in the 3rd quarter cracked me up.

Right, James Carpenter's run, our starting DT gained more rushing yards on that carry then PU totaled for the entire game (18 to 13)
