Brooks

It looks like the UK basketball recruiting class of 2019 is about to get one more member.

Johnny Juzang — a 6-foot-6 backcourt player from the Los Angeles area — is scheduled to announce his college decision sometime Friday, and he recently narrowed his choices to Kentucky, Kansas, Oregon and Virginia.

Wow he is going to have one crowded backcourt to compete with for playing time.
Brooks understands that UK is a Blueblood program that sends players
to the League. He also knows that he is one of the best in the country
like Juzang. So bring it on!

Brooks is head and shoulders better than a healthy Hunter. And Hunter isn’t healthy. That said, Hunter can be a solid player if he’s able to play and develop.
Well Brooks only has one goal per daddy brooks and that is being one and done. So while he may be the better player is he a better team player? Rmember daddy b said it is time to be selfish!

Wouldn’t it be terrible to be recruiting like UK right now?

I’m glad you assured us that Archie had it all figured out and has a better recruiting strategy than Calipari.
I've been waiting all afternoon to post this because I wanted to be 100% sure. I got a text this morning about it and admittedly I thought it was a rumor at first. I've been waiting to make sure its 100% before posting.
I can say with 100% confidence that Billy and his wife were in Bloomington this morning.
I don't see any scenario where he and his wife come to town and he doesn't take the job. It's happening!!!

Dozens...? Post a link to just one then.

If you ever found one, I promise not to delete it, you know, like you tried to do...
Like this one?

I got one thing wrong.

I've got two of your gems in my signature.

One and done is better than zero and none.

Would Iowa trade Weiskamp coming back as a sophomore for having Romeo last year instead?
If they were a title contender last year they would’ve. You can only play one season at a time.

Once again, you do realize that IU had only two open scholarships last fall. Instead of oversigning with below marginal talent (Gelon, Priller, April), Archie gained commitments from two players prior to their high school season openers. The players were McDAA TJD and 4 star shooting guard AFranklin. Both very solid recruits from the state of Indiana. Everyone on this board was thrilled with these commitments, as it was the opposite of what Crean had been doing. Both were B1G level recruits from instate, no reaches, and no oversigning.

When Forrester and Moore left in the second week of April, Archie upgraded Moore with a 4star red shirt instate junior in Joey Brunk. Archie missed on KBrooks, which hurt and was/is recruiting a shooter for next season. It has only been a month that these scholarships became open, and there is plenty of time to fill one or two of the spots.

One thing Archie won't do, which I applaud, is waste a scholarship on a player that is not potentially good enough to help IU. Crean consistently oversigned, combined with accepting players that could not help us. Archie is cleaning up that mess. Not all players work out, as every team has transfers. But IUs transfers went to LaSalle and Temple, both high mid major programs, where Crean's players went to the State Fair Community College Fightin' Corn Dogs (Gelon), or nowhere at all (April), or took up a scholarship for 4 years with no help(Priller). Crean's oversigning limited IU when players became available in the spring, as IU was consistently in an oversign position and concerned with making players transfer, rather than recruiting talent. Archie is bringing in players with talent to contribute at a B1G level, rather than throwing out/away scholarships to satisfy panicked fans.

Archie is building a program. RobP, RaceT, JHunter, DAnderson, TJD and AFranklin are cornerstones of this plan. All are upper level B1G players, potentially. IU will continue to build on this, in Archie's third recruiting class, with 4 year talents such as Leal, Galloway and Cross and others. I like his plan.
Jimmy we just got to stay calm buddy. Let the major rebuild have time. With the obvious improvements on the floor coupled with serious recruiting momentum the stars are aligning! We'll surely make the tournament in the next 5 years or so.

Hey, no way! We need to fire CAM now, and give each subsequent coach less and less time to do anything. There is no such thing as building a program. The right guy can come in, get all the hoop stars, and win a Natty in year two, if not year one. I'm all for spending $20 million on Steve Kerr, who would come here in a heartbeat. But if he doesn't go undefeated in his first year, CUT HIM LOOSE! After that, I say let's hire a coach, then fire him as soon as he loses a game. We may go through 9 or 10 coaches a season, but I'm sure there will be a line out the door, and the donors will have no problem buying out the contracts of all the ex-coaches we fire.

lol...I was worried until Jimmy said Archie is building us into a top 10 program.

You are FLAT OUT WRONG on this post pal.
Being a fortunate individual, I got to see both these guys play several times in High school and AAU.
And I can state, with confidence, that Hunter is absolutely equal with Brooks.
But, That is my opinion and nothing more.
AAU aside, every time I saw Hunter play, he was the best player on the court, but that means little because I knew none of the other players.
But I can say that their athleticism and skill set are so similar as to be flip sides of the same coin!

I would think they are probably pretty equal but I never saw brooks play. The big if will always be if Hunter becomes healthy or not. If he is the loss of Brooks will not be a big deal.

That's true......and we can only speculate in the absence of information.
I imagine that information void will get worse with sports gambling being approved here in Indiana!

the loss of brooks is a very big deal. in more ways than one.
Maybe but the big mistake was the amount of time we invested in him with no real backup in place. Hopefully, this does not happen in the future because any time your up against Kentucky or a money program like LSU you are fighting an uphill battle imo.

Arch and crew have studied this post and appreciate the guidance. Well done!
