Brad Stevens

Which school was on probation last? IU or UK? 1989 was a loooong time ago. Which school has more roster turnover, interestingly enough it's not the one where kids are leaving to earn money. Which one constantly has players in the news for breaking laws, running over teamates in cars, etc? No I'm afraid Stevens doesn't want that tainted brush.

Are you really dumb enough to think that the actions of players that Stevens never recruited or coached would impact his decision whether or not to accept the job at IU? Or the actions of coaches from two regimes ago?

Speculation about Stevens and the IU job is due to his upbringing. His dad played football at IU and graduated from there. Somewhere on the internet, there is a picture of an excited 8 year old Stevens sitting behind the IU bench when Knight is about to hurl the chair. He wasn't just a casual fan growing up - he was an obsessive, die hard fan. Boston scribes Bob Ryan, Dan Shaughnessy & Bill Simmons (among others) are all on record mentioning that IU is the one job that could be important enough to him for him to walk away from the Celtics. The opportunity to restore pride to IU basketball would most certainly mean enough to him for him to consider it if approached, which is more respect than he would be willing to show Kentucky.

Personally, I think it's highly unlikely that he'd be ready to make that move after this season. The timing is just bad - he'll only be halfway through his contract and he surely likes the progress that they've made so far. But it won't have a single thing to do with any of that ignorant, regurgitated drivel you posted.

Not jealous at all and I would rather lose every game played than have Calapari as our coach. To me Stevens is not the type of coach who will want to go to a place where it is win at all cost and have fans who don't care how you win as long as you win.
Very close to getting your wish...

I doubt it. He's a pro, something Indiana fans dont know anything about.

He's a pro! Are you saying UK paid him to be a pro basketball player as opposed to go to school and take math classes for 6 months?

Hmm...now which school has been on probation most recently and which school has had all the off the court issue most recently? Jealous much?

Which school actually self reports and monitors itself as required by NCAA rules? Are you really saying you would be all for somebody shining a black light over the UK program's history? Who knows all of the filth that would turn up: UK is the dirtiest program in history, and it isn't even close.

Word around the campfire from people that work at the NCAA headquarters in Indy is Calipari has a wing dedicated to him, kind of like Dillinger and the FBI, lol

The fact is that Cal has had zero compliance issues at UK and you and 90% of all the other IU fans would be ecstatic if Cal was your coach and you were having the success we are. Keep dreaming for Stevens and I'll keep watching Clappy because he's not going anywhere.

I would never want Cal coaching at IU even if it meant for banners

Really? You want to have a program more likely to lose every game than to contend for the national championship? Cause right now we are somewhere near the middle.

The cult of Brad Stevens .... I don't get it. The Stevens guys are f'n weird. I really doubt he has any interest in IU and if someone tells him about this fantasy he laughs. Yeah .. he is going to leave the Boston Celtics for IU. That's just comical.

Cal would be nowhere close to my short list for an IU coach, now, next, ever... Sorry to burst your righteous bubble but I venture to say that my perspective on Cal is shared by over 90% of the IU fan base...

There you have it. A whole wing dedicated to Calipari and no wrong doing found. Unfortunately the "campfire" and NCAA employees you speak of only exist in your mind.

I like Stevens a great deal, but the same fans screaming for him now were part of the "We're Back!" and ""The Movement!" nonsense, so you can't be surprised. BS is the Flavor of the Month, just like Crean was to most of them at one time.

Could you imagine leaving the Boston Celtics to recruit 15 and 16 year olds while watching AAU games?

Sure. It is called choosing to do what you love to do. Coaching in the NBA is a lot different than college. If a coach enjoys college ball and can go anywhere they want, then that is just fine. If they want to coach NBA ball and are successful, then that is fine too. The NBA is a not a "level" issue because from a pure coaching standpoint it is inferior to college in most ways.

No way he comes to IU. No Way. We have been down for too long. If he came here the pressure would be incredible. We haven't been relevant since Sept 10, 2000. That is 15 years, folks. One lucky run by Davis and one by Crean in 15 years. We haven't been a blueblood in 15yrs. Sad. It would be more likely that Stevens would go to OSU (Matta health issues), MSU as in a few years Izzo is gone, North Carolina, or Duke in a few years. We are destined for mediocrity, sad to say.....

He won't come to IU (in 2016) because he made a long term commitment to Boston and he strikes me as the kind of person who will honor that. It has nothing to do with some moronic prestige scale that ranks programs as worthy or not worthy. This post sounds like something a Kentucky fan would say.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. IU is still a great job and offers just as much to the right candidate as any job in the country.

Stevens would not like dealing with the UK fan base and to me he has to much integrity.
So IU Fans pride themselves on being insane basketball fans and bristle when UK is listed as the more passionate fanbase by sportswriters - but when it's convenient, suddenly UK fans are much crazier. Makes sense.

As for integrity - I mean, your program rose to the top under... not a good guy. Even if every other school in the country except Indiana were somehow cheating at the game of basketball, wouldn't they all be more morally upstanding than the program that retained a man who physically assaulted people, cussed people out constantly, made jokes about rape, etc?

Not only that, but then Kelvin Sampson got you on probation for recruiting violations, right? That was around when we had Tubby, one of the cleanest boy scout coaches in the history of coaching. Then we hired Gillispie, who had an identical personality to Knight, but none of the coaching talent, and we fired that guy after 2 years, because that's what he deserved.

Now in the last 6 years, we've had almost entirely good kids who've represented our school with better behavior and less drama than pretty much any other major program in the country - meanwhile, haven't you guys had 1/3 of your roster cited for disciplinary issues just this season? Is that what they call "doing it the right way"?

No, no, Brad - don't take that awful UK job where 5 different coaches with vastly different styles and personalities have all won championships. It's just the worst.

Yes, I would rather loseevery game than have Calapari as our coach.
Cal is a very overrated coach. He has coached for twenty some years with top recruits coming in every year and has one title.
He has a very unimpressive team this year considering the talent.

I would actually say we have not been elite since 1995

Reading comprehension not a strong suit, huh? He plays for the Suns, a professional basketball club located in Phoenix, AZ. (AZ is the abbreviation for Arizona...)

Yep...four final fours in the past five years and a NC (that stands for national championship). I'll take that overrated coach any day and yes, most IU fans would as well so don't kid yourself.

Then don't complain about being a mediocre program (which you are). Cal has had zero issues both on and off the court at UK...you can't even say that about your coach who doesn't win. Be proud...sounds like you have the kind of team and coach you want.

the interesting thing about the 'clean cal' narrative out of Lexington is that they have such finely tuned underbelly of corrupt boosters/alum that will go to all costs to make sure he is completely insulated. hell, there's nothing else in that state to root for. no professional sports, no real football, its UKKK b-ball and UL a distant second. That seedy network is generations deep and well connected within the state and beyond. That will go to ALL lengths to protect Cal as long as he's winning.

I rather lose every game than have that slime as our coach. You must be either naïve or just plain dumb if you really don't think Cal knew what was going on at UMASS or Memphis. He is the Toney Saprano of college basketball because he puts out the hit but when things go down other take the rap for him and he gets off clean.

Prove it. We'll wait while you make excuses.

Check the NCAA records...Calipari has no violations tied to him. Facts are facts and opinions are like a** holes...everybody has one.

Like I said he is like a mob boss where they put out the hit on someone but never gets caught because he has others to take the fall for him just like he did at UMASS and Memphis. You think is just happened that right after he left both programs they got in trouble with the NCAA.

I never said Cal wasn't a pro. Funny how every place he leaves immediately goes on probation. Better hope he stays at UKKK forever

Everyone told UM the same thing one year ago and now Jim Harbaugh is going to be there for a long time.
I don't think that's necessarily true.

While Harbaugh is "true blue" with his loyalty to UM, he's still in it to coach at the highest level. If Indy calls, he's the Colts HC, without question.

I guess if all you care about is winning at any cost then so have fun but we care about more than just winning at any cost.
Yes you do. You care about printing cereal boxes and making trophy cases celebrating a regular season win. You care about cutting down nets after a loss. You care about a 7 year record of 121 -111 (52%) winning percentage. You should care about a program that doesn't have all the off the court issues that you have (can't deny it), a team that actually plays defense and actually wins. But you keep on caring about the things you care about and you will continue to get each of those things. Clap Clap

here's a real quick and easy one: Eric Bledsoe magically becoming a math savant when he couldn't pass basic algebra a semester before.
So, you can't prove it? And you claimed to have a degree from KSOB. So much for that. I doubt you can prove that, either.
