Bill Mallory ---

If I recall correctly attendance for some games was down to 25,000. That is what sealed coach Mallory’s fate.
Mal deserved better facilities. That screwed him over. We’ve finally got investment and it’s paying off. We are not Alabama, but we have spent like $130 million on football facilities in the past decade. With more to come in the next year.

I like Hep’s Rock, Mallory Field, and a statue for Bo. Stadium is named for lost veterans.
Not gonna argue your point. I just liked the sound of an ESPN announcer saying, "We're live in Hoeppner Hall, overlooking Bill Mallory Field at The Bo ..."

Confession time: I've got to admit I am taken surprise by how much "bricks and mortar" play in recruiting. I would have guessed that game was all about coaching and academics. And, well, money, I guess.
But, I think you are right -- again -- RBB, the investments are paying off and I think we see that in the likes of Michael Pennix signing with us.

I don’t think one can overstate the importance of the Indiana-Ohio State game last year opening the season. From a visual perspective, and especially to a potential recruit, this at all the trappings of big-time college football. A big difference from watching the path of a field goal kick where the ball is bouncing around in an empty parking lot

Well, yeah. I can see how a full stadium is a measure of a program's fan support. But, I'm surprised at how much things like locker rooms matter. It's not just that you have to have them, but they have to look like they were designed by professional designers whose only intent was to impress the potential recruit.
I'm curious: When a potential recruit is making his official visit, does he see the inside of classrooms? If so, which rooms? Does he get to see a dorm room? Do they take him around the nearby apartment complexes?

Jerod Morris of The Assembly Call did some really nice interviews as a tribute to Coach Mallory. The first interview is of Jerod's dad, who was with Coach Mal for about 20 years, first as a player and then as a GA and finally as an assistant coach. The second interview is of former player Greg Farrall. After that he interviews people from Coach Mal's days at N. Illinois and Colorado. I listened to the full 2 hr 20-some minutes but for people with time constraints, I recommend at least the first two parts that are IU-related.
