Bill Maher on Trans Wars

You're lucky, I guess. Just don't take it for granted. Being angry is a waste of time and energy and soul.
I never will. Took 15 plus years of being miserable litigating to get to this point. I opened my acct in 01. I sure as hell wasn’t posting during those 15 years. Slammed working like a dog at firms

Dude I’m telling you. I’m the happiest guy on the planet. My yelling at bowl on here means nothing to me and is just fun. Doesn’t mean I don’t like him. Bc I don’t. But it means nothing to me. I’m the happiest guy on earth.

When I was at firms I was genuinely horrible to be around. Miserable. Stressed. Incredibly short tempered. Brutal existence and always ready to explode. In real life.

Find something that doesn’t bring that out. Why don’t you teach? Be a prof? And I have to believe there are areas of law that aren’t that way. Estate planning? Not probate court just drafting
When I was full-time, I actually spent most of my time drafting. I haven't been to probate much because most of my clients are still many years away from death. There was something cathartic about that. Helping them plan and making them feel better about how they were leaving their kids. If there was a way to do only that and make a good living, I'd be cool with that. But I make three times as much money now, and crab legs ain't gonna pay for themselves.

Yeah that’s the rub. So cobble some stuff together. You know you like estate planning. Maybe that’s a third of your income. Keep building that and figure out other stuff you like to augment until you get to a 100 percent. Teach. Maybe consult in restaurant management. Or two days do that . Whatever. You have flexibility and that’s a huge deal.

I have friends who do this for criminal and it has worked out. My one buddy brought in an extra $100k last year using one of these outfits

Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking of getting into edibles.

Exactly. Super liberal. Just not part of the cult

Do record Maher and watch the recording when desperate to watch something.

Maher calls himself a liberal but objects to some of what he terms as "woke" ideas.

Find some of his material really well written and his delivery is usually perfect.

Overall, the attacks on Trump by comedians such as Maher are way overdone in my book.

The animosity which permeates our political commentary by opponents of Trump and Trump himself is destructive to making progress in finding solutions about which a majority of us can agree upon.

Bottom line, Maher and Co. is only helping to further divide us.

I don't watch him other than the cherry picked clips posted on here. I've always viewed him as the transition from my parents or maybe grandparents Dem party to what we have today.

Hooky, the transition from your grandparent's days as a Democrat, or Republican, in respect to the comedians and politicians of today can be summed up in one sentence.

The current breed of commedians and politicians are about as much fun as watching your best friends having a harmful argument.

When coh says he loves it I know that he’s being honest. It was more enjoyable for his Gen. I’m just old enough to see how they had it. No tiered partnerships. No tort reform. No saturated markets. No advertising!!!! It would have been fun.

My old boss is coh’s age and we still keep up. He’d do about ten to fifteen cases at a time. All seven figures. And he had a war chest to fund it. There was no hysteria. Time to think about the cases. Not scramble. Be fully prepared. That was fun. Really fun.

Today very few of that. Most are running a mill. Scrambling. Hustling. Not fun. 15 cases is fun. 150 cases is hell. Not worth it

Fortunately my business partners. All lawyers. Had enough money and enough contacts with money to be entrepreneurs. It has loads of its own problems but it beats law by a long shot
My best friend, a lawyer, retired recently. I always assumed I'd go to law school after the army and IU. He went to IU right after HS and was a few years ahead of me academically, although we are the same age.

So, he would tell me stories about his cases - divorce and wills, mostly. Then he told me how excited he was because he got a job as assistant prosecutor so he could have insurance.

I thought - wtf? You have to struggle to make enough money for insurance and you're part of a law firm? (His uncle was a founding partner)

I made the smart choice and didn't go to law school. He didn't even tell me about tracking your time for billing, which I absolutely HATED as a consultant.

Ex’s dipshit husband 33 yrs old with a Bach from some shitty directional school is making $400-$500k a year renting Fing cars. I have a buddy with a 4-5 mil dollar house in chesterfield and another house at the lake. I was there last week to look at his new E vette that probably cost $150k. He kicked in $250k for the edibles business like he was signing up for paramount tv. He cuts Fing lawns for a living. A lawn and landscape business.

When you’re young you don’t know. AB was a big hiring place for soccer players. A number of old iu guys. Denny long used to ref our games. I got offered a job after college. That I should have done. Sales
But again. You’re young and don’t know any better
I told my wife one of the guys on the IU board was saying you could make big money working for rental car companies.

She didn't believe me.

Another profession that doesn't make nearly what people think it does.

That's a weekly struggle for every consulting firm. I've yet to talk to someone who says, "oh yeah, we never have an issue with people entering their time." Glad I'm not in operations.

Cost of living very different around the areas I'm from, so the numbers are different, but I feel you. The bartender I'm telling you about? She bought a car and a house both in cash in the span of a couple of years. Lives on one side of the river - which is still a nice side of the river, but cheaper - but works on the side where O-I is headquartered. So she's serving drinks to these major executives, they are leaving her cash tips which she pays very few taxes on, and she's turning around and going over to the middle class neighborhood only five minutes away, and buying a house.

And she's almost a decade younger than me. So some young people do know. I didn't. I was an idiot. But not everyone is.
Girls who worked at the Hugger in Kokomo, who weren't doing drugs and supporting a deadbeat boyfrieds, were pulling in $1k+ per night in tips, easy. All their money - no sharing with the bar. And all cash.

Most spent it as fast as they got it, but some saved and invested, 'retired' early, and went on to a real job and were very well off.

Tell me more about this Hugger place. Sounds delightfully entrepreneurial.

Nah that’s what this forum is for and unique to this forum. I bet you don’t. Where else in life does anything come up to really dislike people. You weed them out. Our chat groups text groups have gone on for 30 years. Never and I mean never a fight. Bc you’d separate the people. Weed them out. Here bc it’s politics and people you genuinely don’t like mixed together. Now some prefer to put those people on ignore. As ranger brad DANC and others who don’t respond to bowl. I enjoy arguing and don’t mind fighting. Again this is the place to do it. I don’t put bowl on ignore or hickory or shitter. In real life I wouldn’t spend two seconds dealing with any of them in any capacity.

This is a unique place. All of that said I didn’t like the passive aggressive exchanges bowl had with brad and a few others. And in real life I would punch bowls head in without thinking twice about it. If I catch him at a football game I’d be more than happy to. If that’s an anger issue then guilty as charged
I don't have shitter on ignore. He's too unintentionally hilarious.

And now that he's outed himself, it's even funnier.

I’m confident most would view this (suspension) as insane, just as most view individuals who were born male competing in women’s sports as wrong.

That said, there are fewer than ten (10) trans athletes competing in NCAA sports. It is estimated that the number of trans girls competing in high school girls sports is very small.

My question is this. With all the shit happening domestically and globally that impacts the lives of millions of people, why does this trans “news” makes headlines, why does FOX News cover this stuff in lieu of congressional hearings about national security breaches and, unless you’re trans or a family member of a trans person, how and why does this matter?

One reason it makes headlines is because Democrats refuse to stop it, which means they support it 🤷‍♂️

I have two thoughts:

1. Until the governing bodies figure this out, this is the best way to deal with it. Everyone should just forfeit until the trans athlete wins the championship by default. Make the entire process a farce.

2. I know nothing about fencing; does sex really convey an advantage? Lots of movies about kick-ass pirate women suggest otherwise.

I would guess wingspan/armlength would give an advantage.

1. Yep. Don’t even show. I’m sure they know in advance

Adults are stepping up. It's when politicians cut them down that needs to be addressed next. Crap like this is unbelievable.

Look, it's not the duty of these female athletes to be heroes, but if they take it upon themselves to be just that, they could force the hands, not only of administrators, but politicians, too. Sucks for them for what they'll suffer in the meantime, but nothing could force a change faster or more strongly than that. Just a straight up across the board boycott.

In the California example, I agree that it might be the only option. That is the result of a complete failure by adults though.

But in other states, it needs to happen via legislation whenever possible. The pro argument is "it's fewer than X people, so why does it matter". That's the argument for why it should be done though. Why allow a handful deprive the majority of equal opportunities in sports?

I'm not trying to debate the rights or wrongs. I'm just saying, if more girls did what this fencing girl did, change would happen a lot faster.

I would assume reach and length matter along with speed, but I’m not an expert on something that fancy
