Beard

If a drunk athletic woman attacked you and you did everything you could to stop it.
And it all escalated so fast you couldn’t leave. Would you just let her beat the shit out of you?
He has not had any issues since he left Texas, So I say hell yes hire Chris Beard.
We all know you are the dumbest of the dumb, but this is next level dumb even for a mouth breather like you. He is easily twice her size, and maybe 2-1/2 times her size. He's big and fat and she's small and skinny (pic below). He beat her, bit her, and strangled her. Why don't you just become an Ole Miss fan. Nobody here would ever miss you...

Police affidavit and Trew's initial statements to police:

According to the police affidavit in support of Beard's arrest, Trew initially told officers he strangled her from behind to the point where she couldn't breathe for several seconds. The affidavit listed several visible signs of an altercation, including bite marks on her arm and abrasions on her face and leg.

According to the affidavit, Trew initally told police "he choked me, bit me, bruises all over my leg, throwing me around and going nuts.'' Her later statement did not address why she called 911 or several of the physical injuries described in the police report.

He’s a drunk and he’s not stopped. This is from 2022 but the stories are out there. He’d be a PR nightmare anywhere north of the river.

You do see some instances where a woman brazenly attacks a man. She does it because she doesn't think he will defend himself or hit back. Now my question would be is Beard the kind of person who would hit a woman when he is sober? Alcohol does play a part in all this. Also does Beard have a history of violence or is this a one time act? Does he get drunk a lot? People can judge others but they have to be reasonable about it.
You are the fakest of the fake pastors ever man. He hit her, bit her, and strangled her. How low are your standards? Go get mauled by a 🐻

You seem very narrow-minded and fanatical about this. Let’s judge you based on the worst thing you’ve ever done in your life, condemn you for it, and never give you a chance at redemption. You need to be held to the same standard you’re holding Chris Beard to.

Off topic-I remember last season you had some comments about Swift and the Chiefs. I always liked Andy Reid and like Mahomes but so glad they got beat so maybe fewer NFL telecasts have the Chief Swifties featured.
as a miserable long-suffering Bears fan, I watched yesterday with literally no emotional involvement whatsoever.
I did hear the Eagles fans rain boo birds down on Taylor. Gotta love Philly fans....they are some salty folks (although probably in better moods today).

I have no issues with Reid, he's a good coach for sure. Mahomes played like he bet a half mil on the Eagles.

Philly defense looked like the 85 Bears yesterday. KC had no chance. Game was over half way through the 2nd quarter.

I had Barkley and J Chase on my ff team this year. Was a good season.

I don't quite get what I'm watching here: sounds like he's saying someone forged his signature and gave it to their kid as a gift? Who posted it, and how did it "ruin his Dad's Christmas?" Also, you said 2022, but he took the UT job in 2021, right, so why'd he say Lubbock TX in the opening? Seems it would've been during his time at Tech which was '21 and before.

You said there are a lot of stories out there, so if that's the case, I'd agree pass on him, especially if he hasn't stopped drinking.

UCLA wouldn’t touch him. He screwed UNLV. Follow any Reddit, sub Reddit and countless fan forums. Even Rothstein was shocked when he was drinking before games (final 4)at Texas tech. It’s all right in front of everyone but hey…the guy can coach. One thing to just be a jerk(which he is) but it’s another animal when you are and you’re an alcoholic too. Could you imagine if Knight was an alcoholic? Hell there are stories going back to Abilene.

Would not put any stock in Reddit or fan forum posts, at all. If he had a beer at lunch with a game that night? But if he's a problem drinker then a real background investigation will discover that, and then I'm fine ruling him out.

Too much conjecture. Many here seem to think they know what happened from reading articles or a police report, but there are only 2-3 people who know. That's why I say, consider him (you're not doing your job if you don't), but hire an investigator. If he's an alcoholic and an abuser, there will be a trail and then you don't touch him. If there's not, and you believe his answers when you interview him, he should be considered. IU doesn't need to do more than the Austin DA, and the way our justice system works, shouldn't: Innocent until proven guilty. Our AD's job is to field the most competitive teams within the rules, so not considering someone who is at the very top of the field in terms of experience and success would be dumb.
He was so good at TT, that I suspect any number of major programs have done exactly what you're suggesting. The list of elite bball schools that have hired coaches since that incident is fairly long. I don't think its a coincidence he landed at a bottom tier SEC basketball school, in the state of Mississippi. Its odd, and naiive to think they wouldn't have fully vetted vetted him.

Lmao. It was freaking Rothstein. It wasn’t a fan forum. He posted that on Twitter. 🤦🏻 you think Rothstein was lying? The guy is a drunk and it’s documented. He’s been investigated and vetted. UK said hell no too.

Ole Miss says they did vet him, and were convinced that the incident did not happen as reported. Make of that what you will. IU should certainly do their own due diligence if they are considering him, and I'm sure they will.

I don't read twitter, nor do I really believe anything I see secondhand that was reported to be on Twitter no matter who says it.

It was from Rothstein himself. Smfh. Then he did an interview about it. There’s videos of Beard drunk and incoherent like he’s a frat boy.

He should be investigated, properly, if he's a potential candidate for the job. That's all I've ever said. Not going to pretend I know the truth from hearsay posted on twitter and fan forums.

I don't see it as it's "all right in front of everyone". I'm not going to spend a ton of time researching it, but just googling "chris Beard drunk" doesn't link any videos I'm seeing. It did link to the incident you posted from, but the explanation is still odd. Something about someone had a ball w a fake CB signature who was going to give it to a 2yo and the guy asked CB to sign it for real and instead he made that video... still makes no sense to me. You seem to have a lot more info than anyone else about CB. I agree with what IUN is saying: odd that neither UK nor UL ended up with him, or were linked to him, so sounds like they ruled him out, but at the time it seemed possible that he was just being loyal to OM. I stand by my view that IU should vet him before considering hiring him, but if what you're saying is true, then it should be easy to say no way and move on.

I guess the crux of the issue is whether or not she instigated the physicalness of the matter, if so, he was defending himself. Which is something that has been described in this incident.

OMG let’s crucify everyone who is a drunk. I bet 90% of the idiots on this board would be crucified. If he’s getting help for it or it’s in the past get over it.

Injuries to the woman that were fully documented in police photos:
-a bite mark on her forearm
-bruises on both legs
-a cut near her eyebrow
-a cut on her thumb
-a cut on her temple
-slap marks to her face

The physical evidence was there to show she wasn't lying. Her documented injuries support her account of being thrown around.

But, Beard wasn't charged with assault or battery. He was charged with assault by strangulation/suffocation-family violence, a third-degree felony.

That charge was a huge mistake by the DA. They over-charged him. Why couldn't the charges stick? A technicality. The bruises typically arising from a strangulation were not apparent, since (she says) he choked her from behind with his forearm, not with his hands from the front (which would cause clear bruising).

With no forensics to back up her STRANGULATION allegation, she backed off.

Did she say he didn't do anything wrong? No.

The DA got greedy with the biggest penalty charge, strangulation. The DA was the Mike Woodson of district attorneys. If the DA had gone with simple assault from the get-go, it would have been cut-and-dried. But the DA didn't.

Sure, they could have dropped the strangulation charge and gone with lesser charges, but then their determination was that it would have made it harder to convince a jury in Texas on the lesser charge. They'd have to fight the "she changed her story once already" attack, though she merely backed off under the advice that a lack of physical evidence would kill her case.

Regardless of what truly happened in this altercation, I see people keep referring to the fiancée, Randi Trew, as his wife.
Chris Beard was married prior to this to a lady named Leslie in 1996 and they divorced and they have 3 daughters from that marriage . There is little info on exactly when they divorced but they were married for a number of years and there were no reports of domestic abuse in that marriage. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything but the guy keeps being characterized as a habitual abuser. Other than this altercation with Trew, if the guy had a pattern of this, I would have thought this history would have been reported years prior to this. Maybe one incident is enough, even if he wasn’t the aggressor but those who are domestic abusers typically have repeated patterns that go on for years and various relationships.

I agree. If his drinking is as big an issue as victorbmyboy is saying, and he has a history of abuse, there will be lots of stuff out there. A decent investigator will find it in an afternoon for $2-5K and that would be money well-spent. Heck, if it's what VMB describes, Dolson already knows. But, there is a reason UL or UK didn't end up with CB last year, so that likely is it.

Finally! I kind of assumed that was the case, but had not seen evidence. So now we know he’s not only an abuser of women, and of alcohol, he’s also an asshole.
