Banks, Gunn and Bates

The three deposed Hoosiers were a combined 22-34 fg yesterday, led by Kaleb Banks 33pts, 16 reb, and Gunn 9-12, 22pts in 14min.

It is remarkable what a difference it makes when talented people find the right fit.
Gunn is the same Gunn at IU. Just playing different competition. Bates is finally scoring some more but inconsistent. Banks is exceding expectations.

...and developed and allowed to develop to their strengths as young collegiate talent...my thoughts on Woodson about player development is he is too headstrong and 0 patience for giving young guys enough playing time to establish any improvement...

The other part of this equation is that they are all older and more experienced. Lots and lots of players don't do jack squat through their first couple of seasons especially with any consistency. IU has had more players than I can name over the years that weren't solid contributors till their jr and Sr seasons. Kids transfer so quickly and so often nowadays that we never get to watch them mature.

Woody does blow chunks as a coach though and that doesn't help. 😁

Which makes sense as it’s something that an nba coach wouldn’t normally be dealing with.

The hump on the other hand, Bigfoot is all over that

Me too. Wonder if he could have missed more threes than anyone in history. Tamar out shoots Romeo drunker than you to a GS concert in your trailer.
So...have you been saying all these years that Tamar is merely a better shooter than Romeo? Or that he's a better overall basketball player?

First contention is plausible, and the more we see out of Tamar, the more likely it seems to be true.

Second contention is laughable, and that's where you sound like a scorned teenage girl.

Romeo is not playing basketball to my knowledge. Tamar in the last week put up 30 against the #1 team in the nation. More points than Romeo ever scored in a college game.

Saying Tamar is better than Romeo at basketball is laughable? If you are born with 3 brain cells I guess it’s laughable.

Every single NBA GM takes Tamar over Romeo. That’s a fact. Literally every GM just passed on Romeo, Tamar will be in the G league next year at minimum.

Offense (Shooting, passing, dribbling, creating for yourself, creating for others, rebounding)
Defense (Guarding the ball, guarding off the ball, rebounding, disruption, steals, blocks, effecting shots)

You know...being a basketball player. Take ALL of those things in to account, and Romeo, as a freshman in college and the many years before that in HS and AAU, was more than a little bit better than Tamar was. Any comparison after that is BS, and you know it.

You're really making yourself sound absurd.

Brad Stevens, you know...the SMARTEST guy in all of basketball...chose Romeo as his number one pick in the draft after his freshman year. Tamar couldn't even start for a bad IU team, regularly, during his freshman year, and had to run to a bad SEC team to get a featured role.

Like what are you talking about?

and probably put into a position that best utilizes their skills and allows them to excel.

Romeo will make more interest on his savings than Tamar will make in the G league. don't know how this all came down to Romeo vs Tamar. both were good kids who gave their best to IU.

Romeo is playing in France according to Wikipedia.

I think there is some kind of unhealthy obsession at this point with Bates from Cav. I respect him having his back. Tamar is a solid player. I thought he was going to be very good after that St John's game. But... This is becoming odd. And the whole trailor talk towards me is somehow funny, so I guess thats a first win for him in this debate. 🤷‍♂️

Romeo accomplished, and did, what Tamar is still hoping to do.

We'll see if Tamar ever does. I remember now that your original contention was Tamar would have a better/longer NBA career. I guess that could happen. It sure doesn't seem to be trending that way, but honestly I hope you're right. Always like Tamar.

But, overall basketball player, Romeo was, probably still is, a lot better than Tamar. NBA GMs agreed with that by drafting him initially, and then a 2nd team giving him a look. In the end, his shooting issues doomed him, seemingly. But the reason he was there in the first place, and why Tamar hasn't yet...Romeo was a better overall basketball player. NBA GMs bet on his shooting coming around, because the rest of his game was there. If Tamar was a good as Romeo was, or is, NBA GM's would have shown him more love and he'd be in the NBA by now. Doesn't mean he can't ever get there. But you have no clue if he will, at this point, just like I don't. The only comparable facts we have, at this point, are their HS/AAU/and freshman college performances and impacts.
