Ballo is not TJD or Ware

Reneau, Mgbako, Tucker, Galloway and Rice.
Carlyle would be excellent as the microwave off the bench with the ball in his hands.

We have to have more than 3 sets in order to properly put the pieces together with this talent.

There was no reason to close out that half with Mgbako on the bench. Could've put our foot on their throat.

A sharp coach would start the second half with the most effective line-up from the first half, which would be Reneau, Mgbako, Galloway, Carlyle and Rice.

Mgbako should have 25 points right now.

Arizona made Ballo all conference 2x, he will not be all big 10 this year, I've seen him 20 minutes, he's a garbage man, screen rebound put backs, that's it
What I saw of him at AZ, that's primarily how he was used there. I think they spaced the court better though, and when he gets a chance in the post 1 on 1, he's got a good post game. He was also good in pick and roll when I saw him.

For this team, I think he's a really good fit: we have plenty of options all over that can score, so if he's OK with taking his opportunities, setting screens, controlling the paint and boards on both ends, he doesn't take shots from Reanu, Mbako and others. But, the general feeling here is that he came because of CMW's success getting 5s to the league so if he does want to expand his game, it could be at the expense of others, or he could get frustrated.

Not trying to say that this was the reason for Bako on the bench...but I think he picked up his 2nd foul late in the 1st half and maybe they didn't want him getting another cheap one for #3?

That's the lineup I'd use, too.

Woodson can't sell Ballo and future players on "I'm the guy that gets centers to the NBA" and then not start him. Starters don't matter as much as who is playing in the end.

We need two offenses to match our two distinctively different centers. Go back and watch Ballo transform in the half court with Reneau on the bench and Galloway working the p&r with him. Put Goode with those two and construct a halfcourt offense that has some spacing and goes about things a little bit more methodically. Start Reneau, Mgbako, Tucker, Carlyle and Rice with the intention of getting up and down and getting points off of turnovers and 3s in transition. We can get 35 and 15 every night out of the 5 if we play the bigs separately. Galloway can get minutes with the "speed" team at the 3.

Configure line-ups towards the strengths of the players and stop trying to pound squares into round holes.
There's a way to be dominate with 8 players getting 20+mpg with this group.

Woody needs to set the 2 big idea aside. Forget any promises made and start coaching for dominance.

if he was serious about getting to the league, he would have lost 30lbs, he can be an excellent piece for us if used right.

I don't get it slow no outside shot pretty much a poor mans Kofi Cockburn. If we could of recruited better Derik Queen had a great first game against Manhattan.
22 points 20 rebounds..

Same old stuff. Woodson is not capable of anything more. It is obvious by now.

Hopefully our football success gives the AD the power/ability to actually make changes after the season.
It is NBA ball in college. He is trying to recruit enough talent to make it work but it isn't much fun to watch.

The season is early though. If they can beat teams like OSU, Iowa, and Rutgers they will have a shot to get to the tourney this year.

I agree there. Just ready to move past where getting in the tournament is even in question.

oh really? You don't know shit about me so **** off
And, like I said ....

A better more effective response would be to show what ya know but I suspect you can't. Statement stands. You could change my mind ... you have the floor and the opportunity .. coach.

I can see when IU runs their offense why RMK never liked pick and roll ... it brings another defender to the ball. Their offense is stagnant at times where four stand and watch the ball handler. They do great the few times they pick away from the ball to create a shot for someone. Too much one on one play, shooters are not ready to shot the 3 when they receive the ball. Lane is clogged with two bigs. I have seen this for three previous years. Although it is only one game and a couple of exhibitions ... the offensive trends are still there. Ballo did well at AZ but I don't see him better than Ware or TJD ... that might make a difference when they need a basket.

I noticed UT ran an offense with the floor spread, the lane wide open, lots of movement but NEVER did a pick and roll. Still, IU beat them.

To add to that ... you never know what promises are made when there is a LOT of money involved. Not only to Ballo but to all the other transfers that are getting paid.

I was joking ... I really don't care.
