Threats and shitty DMs are really stupid behavior from IU fans that send them and probably some non-IU fans that do too.

But, these death threats aren't real. No player has ever needed security or has faced a fan actually trying to kill them. It's just unfortunate noise that comes with being in the public eye.
Yep nobody is excusing this stuff but this isn't Mr. Rogers Neighborhood anymore it's the real world, you're making a lot of money, and you need to understand that there are always assholes out there.

Expect more of this PLUS fixed games now that big money is involved. Gamblers will touch these young players a lot more productively.
At least in theory, there should be less pressure for fixed games. Point Shaving Scandals in the past had the underlying premise that because Players resources were limited by NCAA Rules, They looked for other sources of cash and could justify shaving points because it didn't change the underlying outcome of the game. With the NIL Rules and wherever else the issue of compensating players is headed, there shouldn't be an incentive for Players to be involved in this activity.

I am totally opposed to death threats. I wouldn't even boo these guys. BUT. Now that they're getting paid I don't feel sorry for them. It comes with the territory.
If it's even true but he makes a million a year. The student athlete thing is now out the window. These are pro players now.

Like I said in the other thread, if there are actual death threats then the cops should be involved. It's not rocket science to figure out who is behind an anonymous account.

If it's just mean tweets, either toughen up, close your DMs or get off the app altogether.

The flip side to this is if you play hard and do your job you are a God in Bloomington and never want for opportunities in life. I think we're special in that way. How many 30yos in Southern Indiana are named either Damon or Bailey? Social media opens the door for 1% of a fanbase with ptsd. We all have 25 years of basketball ptsd but the 1% that have went way off the rails is what this team is talking about. The rest of it is educated criticism that you should've been made aware of. By Arizona and Gonzaga standards we are probably implorable.

I prefer adults not attack kids on message boards. I also prefer kids be allowed to grow and make mistakes. Both of those points clash hard with NIL money, which is why I hate what has become of college basketball.

AJ Storr gets all entitled and goes to "greener grass" at Kansas. Wisconsin gladly replaces him with an uncut gem named Tonje who immediately becomes a star.
Perfect example of the corruption of NIL. I hope it dies. It will eventually, but probably not until it destroys college ball and no o e watches any more.
