Threats and shitty DMs are really stupid behavior from IU fans that send them and probably some non-IU fans that do too.

But, these death threats aren't real. No player has ever needed security or has faced a fan actually trying to kill them. It's just unfortunate noise that comes with being in the public eye.

And they will never stop especially when people can hide behind screen or user names.
Exactly. A person can go on social media and say anything without consequences. And many readers take it too seriously. Consider the source.

Yep nobody is excusing this stuff but this isn't Mr. Rogers Neighborhood anymore it's the real world, you're making a lot of money, and you need to understand that there are always assholes out there.

Expect more of this PLUS fixed games now that big money is involved. Gamblers will touch these young players a lot more productively.
At least in theory, there should be less pressure for fixed games. Point Shaving Scandals in the past had the underlying premise that because Players resources were limited by NCAA Rules, They looked for other sources of cash and could justify shaving points because it didn't change the underlying outcome of the game. With the NIL Rules and wherever else the issue of compensating players is headed, there shouldn't be an incentive for Players to be involved in this activity.
