Are we in store for a Archie style losing streak?

Unless he chooses to retire (which I could see—he can't be enjoying this), I'd be very surprised. He's getting at least 4 years before his seat heats up.
2 years and you either extend him or fire him.

Even after ”times passed him by” he won a Coach of the Year and got a team to the Sweet 16 while in Lubbock. Lubbock is as close as you can get to hell on earth. It’s like right next door.

As I stated above, I have read that PU will drop back because ( insert name ) will be gone.
I think it started when Edwards was leaving and yet Painter plugs in new players and continues to win (except in the tourney!) Don't they have their next Lurch signed already?
Getting Lurch was like hitting the lottery. Yeah, they have another center coming in. But the chances of getting anything close to Lurch from another low ranked center is highly unlikely.

I don't think anybody is arguing that they will be top 5 in the country next year. I think it is questioning whether they drop back to Top 25 or top 75.

Frankly, losing Edey is obviously huge, but losing Jones is going to be equally detrimental. Purdue is significantly better at ball handling and beating the press this year and that has mostly been due to Jones being the secondary ball handler.

Edey still has his Covid exception year- I only see him leaving if Purdue makes a Final Four

Thad wasn’t an assistant. He was associate AD. They were getting him back in the game or tried to hire him as coach. Depends on who you believe. Dane has loose lips and said too much, did things behind woody etc..I’d say woody rolls with what he has. For better or worse imho.
Maybe they were things that needed to be known and said. Remember Fife worked for a very winning Izzo. I don't like Izzo but he's gotten it done at MSU while robbing Indiana of some good talent that IU let get away.

Thad was there until the Butler opp happened. That was the deal from the beginning as his intention is to become the AD.

RMK amassed enemies through the years due to his lack of a diplomatic demeanor. It was a contributing factor to the outcome.
The "blue blood" label only exists and existed at IU because of RMK. None of his negatives can take that reality away. Since his departure....the blue has been steadily fading. Not much left of it.

While I would not condone an assistant badmouthing his own program just because he doesn't like the coach or his politics or his energy level or whatever, I can see that the culture shock of working for a high-strung guy like Izzo for so many years and then experiencing Woodson's apparently much more stoic demeanor would maybe be something he had difficulty with.

Yeah sure but doing deals and talking out your a$$ will get you fired. I don’t know what he was trying to accomplish by doing those things. You see where it got him. Don’t care what he did with Izzo. I know what the hints from East Lansing was from fans. They weren’t upset when he left. Dane made his bed. If you choose sides you don’t choose rabby and DD.

Any detail on what Fife did? Deals? Talking?

It’s kinda funny we are a blue blood in every metric (fans, history, revenue/budget/NIL, facilities) except our wins/results the last 25 years have been way, way off the other blue bloods. It’s an impressive achievement to underachieve so consistently.

Going to ask this question again!
It could happen, if the team checks out. I don't think they have, or will. Unless a miracle happens, we won't make the tournament, but I think we'll find a few more Ws.

I’d not be so sure of that- Edey has a great NIL deal and zero hope for a NBA impact.
Exactly the kind of players to go after. I'd cap it (with exceptions) at #30. Anyone ranked higher better commit to 2 yrs or else they are just a distraction.

So you don’t really know?
If I could post a picture it details it. It’s been discussed and freaking discussed. If you haven’t seen it or heard it by now I don’t know what more I can tell you. Basically the idiot was told to do his job. Warned many times on multiple issues. He didn’t and got fired for cause. If you don’t think it’s true then why didn’t he get hired by anyone? Even Mich. St wasn’t overly upset with him leaving.

You could be right, I thought they ditched auto bids, which favors bigger schools like us.
I looked that up a couple weeks ago. Seems like approximately 40% of last year’s teams were automatic bids…mostly conference champions who didn’t win their conference tournament.
