Archie needs to clean house...

...starting with himself. Fred has to go too. He oversaw this mess.

Does Indiana leadership even really care about how well athletics does? I could be wrong but I get the feeling that as long as athletics stays scandal free and is fiscally sound that they are happy. It doesn't help that we've done next to nothing athletically in the last decade (minus the soccer NC) and people are still donating a boatload of money. With that going on why would anyone fire Fred? IU's leadership proved a long time ago they don't care about winning. They seem very content.

That is absolutely true in football because the fanbase and donors have been lulled into apathy after decades of mismanagement, but at least in basketball there are some expectations of winning, or at least there used to be. You would think the boosters and fans would demand changes after the last decade of losing.

No all they care about is MONEY IU athletics is flush with cash and that’s all they care about. Kaufman and the other huge donors need to cut the cord now!

What’s really sad is Chris Mack who you guys could of taken goes to Louisville who is in the dumps thanks to Pitino and has to vacate their title. They barely had enough players to play this season and are now in the top 15 and have a great recruiting class coming in. It’s not all Archie’s fault but he definitely deserves some blame

While you're right Archie has fault in this, with what he has available it is an ugly storm to weather as a coach. Mack likely wouldn't do much better with what IU has right now.

With Morgan and Romeo and some solid (on paper) support pieces, I expected you guys to be a Top 25 team. Don’t know what the heck happened.

Something had to have happened over X-mas break - the period right after Phin's concussion. We haven't looked the same since. And when I see Smith's dad bitching on Twitter it tells me they have severe chemistry issues.

I don’t think Mack would have recruited Fitzner for starters
At the time it looked like a great move - a complimentary piece.

Instead, we've had injuries to Thompson, Hunter and Davis to completely alter how we have to try to utilize Evan. I'm sure that when Archie was contemplating on bringing him in he didn't envision Fitzner being a banger down low in the Big 10.

I think some of it was the competition had time to see enough IU film with Romeo to make adjustments and IU has been unable to counter those adjustments like most teams would. Guard Romeo hard without the ball. Collapse the lane and limit drive opportunities. You can say it's the coach, you can say it's the talent, you can say it's the effort, you can say it's the injuries, or all of the above, but teams adjusted and IU doesn't have another gear.

We should be. It’s a total lack of coaching. We’re soft, we have no identity, no offense, and the team doesn’t respond to the coaches. That’s 100% coaching. We don’t have Final Four talent but we have top 25 talent. This is embarrassing.

Zero inside presence...Has killed us this year also.
If we just had a couple 6'9 / 6'10 guys that did nothing more than bang , Rebound like a grown men, Set screens And score on junk rebounds...We could get away with below avge outside shooting.
But our bigs are so thin .Other than Morgan.

Look at Archie’s first few years at Dayton. Look at Barnes at Tennessee. Look at Pearls at Auburn. Look at Bennett and beileins. Look at Jay Wright at Nova.

It sucks. But it takes a few years. This team can build around Robert P and Hunter going forward.

Also, demezi and jake and maybe Race can be 4-year role players and maybe starters.

TJD and Armaan will help. Land Keion (fingers crossed) and this program is headed up.

I’m just really glad that Fitzner found his shooting touch again! Great game for him. Really a model of consistency!

Just wait until next year when we’re under .500. Nothing about our program is trending up. Nothing.

This roster is soft and doesn’t play hard. Has zero shooters and zero front court.
Cut lose the softness and rebuild the roster.

The way this debacle season has gone, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the roster cleans some of itself out.

didn't the training staff say moore put on 30 lbs? remember when they releases before and after picks and several players looked much bigger? now i suspect some photoshop trickery because moore is still a wisp, durham is still quite thin, etc.

You mean Chris Mack and Lville who we beat on Dec 8, en route to a 13-2 start?

The last month has sucked, but Archie's not going anywhere and we can have addition by subtraction next year, with guys improving, a healthy roster, and more of his players. The verdict's out on who's better: Archie, Holtmann or Mack. Of the 3, I think Archie was the most highly thought of, before their new jobs. This season has shaken my confidence, but every coach has failed recruits (Fitzner... who thank goodness only takes 1 yr of scholly vs 4 like Priller and Gelon was going to) and bad seasons.

He could start by putting together a legitimate coaching staff as well as taking some accountability as well...

Does anybody know if Flint is getting anything done? Not trying to be snarky about it, just haven't seen his name mentioned either by present players or relating to recruiting.

I agree especially with some of the upper classman but if you have to many leave then your APR takes a big hit. Also at this time of the year it is hard to start recruiting players for next year since most of the top players are already committed.

Talk to the clown Fred!! Can’t ruin that APR score and IU guarantees it’s schollys!
Again this has been explained before that the Student Bill of Right guarantees a scholarship but not a roster spot on your team. It was mainly put in place in case an athlete has a career ending injury and if they can't play anymore they will still have that scholarship to finish school.

An honest question you and some others, if you were hired tomorrow for the AD job what would you do that has not been done by glass that would turn the athletic department around. I am not talking fantasy land stuff that has no chance of happening but things you think that needs to be done that can be legitimately expected to happen.

Stop nickel and diming the revenue producing programs, make the North Endzone complex football only, get a compliance staff that isn’t hostile to sports, clean the bird shit out of the stadium on gameday, make sure the shot clocks work, reduce ticket prices for football, learn a thing or two about sports so I can evaluate and hire coaches properly, and be aware of any internal problems in the programs. Glass was either ignorant of or indifferent to the myriad issues occuring under Crean, which is a big reason why the program is in the crapper and may never recover.

I am told Schilling is the one who brought in fitzner. He should be fired for that alone as what sort of a judge of talent is this guy?
