Still buzzing today about this game. Huge win. The win underscores how good the 2nd team is for the Pacers.
McConnell struggled early in the 3rd but man was he clutch when they needed him. The guy we need to step up and prove he belongs on this team is Jarace Walker. I like him but he’s not consistent yet.
I like Mathurin but he’s also not consistent and at times a head case. I’m beginning to think if we have to to trade one guy for some bigs We should ship out Benny. He so talented and honestly on a bad team he could be the man and average 20+ points. I just don’t know if he’s a team first guy that fits into the Pacers mold. I’d hate to trade Obi. Hes such a solid player and seems like a great dude and a favorite in the community. But back to Jarace, we need him to become the guy we drafted so highly, especially if we were to trade Mathurin.
At some point the pacers are going to be forced to trade a couple players in order to keep turner. The salaries won’t work out, and I have a feeling for Matherin will be moved. I disagree that he’s not thinking of the team. Just watch his reaction when Obi hit the game winner. But still, his style of play doesn’t seem to mesh with the rest of the starting five, and leaving him in the second unit seems to be an insult. He needs to be more like Nesmith, and that may just not be possible. I hope he continues to evolve so the pacers can justify keeping him, but I have a feeling he’s probably a better fit w another team.
I think Jarace is a better fit for a similar role, but he’s just too loose with the ball. He coughed up the ball twice down the stretch yesterday, plus a really bad foul. But he hits shots, and plays good D (great hands) and has great vision. He will likely do well for the pacers, and they can keep him on the roster without having to pay a lot just yet.
McConnell continues to blow me away. Probably my second favorite pacer. His game tying shot was wild. Great assist to TO ration. Great energy and poise. A leader. He’s already a legendary pacer.

I felt they had lost this game, and they pulled another rabbit out of the hat tonight.
Blew a 16 point lead against a Dallas team that only had 8 players. 4th quarter they looked like shit. I’ve never seen Pascal look so vulnerable on defense. PJ Washington took him to the hole 3 straight times. They gutted this one out when it counted. Som timely stops and Siakim stole the ball on a corner trap with about 20 seconds to go and Nembhard hit the clutch three. They gotta stop playing down to the competition but it was a gutty win.
