Worked under one of the best, has great foriegn ties... 50 years old. Does he have a buyout? Would he want to come to Bloomington? Earn himself 2.5-3 more million a year. Probably has it made in Arizona. Idk, more NIL at IU.

Can’t argue with the job he’s done at Arizona. Sean Miller’s last few years there were less than stellar and he came in and turned them around.
Not sure his European style fits Indiana, but it definitely fits College Basketball. And, it’s not like his teams don’t play defense. ‘24 season they ranked #10 on KP and this year currently at #14.

Yep, don't believe you would, but I guess you can ask. Not checking with him would be a mistake.
I don't know much about Tommy Lloyd. But the guy is 105-27 in 3.x years at Arizona, with two S16's. He went there with no HC experience, being an assistant at Gonzaga. If he'd have been suggested for the IU job when he got the AZ job everyone here would have scoffed. But now he's successful and suddenly people think he'd leave AZ for IU? Not likely.
The lesson is that it's hard to poach a successful coach from a big program. If you're unwilling to take a shot at a promising up and coming coach from a lesser program, you'll end up with proven middling guys like Tom Crean.
That Big Name you all covet, whoever that is? He's not coming here. Find the next Tommy Lloyd, or whoever fits that bill.

Everyone has different reasons. Everyone has different preferences. Some people think it’s crazy to live in Indiana. I like to visit Florida but wouldn’t live there for free.
Having lived in SE Arizona ... Sedona is nowhere close to Tucson.

I’m not even meaning this to be a smart ass, but what is Indiana’s fit? We are 30 years removed from any shred of consistent culture and identity. Since then it’s been a sad assortment of sulking faces, deflection counts, and one insurmountable hump. Truthfully, I don’t care if we are running like a Mike D’antoni team or shutting people down like Virginia’s teams under Bennet. Just win!
You know Cronin has won consistently, but he also has an exceptionally talented roster and is currently only 5th in the Big Ten. You have to look for coaches that get more than face value from their squad.
Woodson is down there below Hoiberg despite several top 40 guys on the roster and 2 5th year senior guards.
I haven't evaluated Llyod but didn't one of our other coaching prospects beat him on a neutral floor? Was it May?
Lloyd turned down multiple offers over the years before taking the Arizona job. His Gonzaga contract stipulated that if Few left or retired, the job was his. He's very respected in the coaching community but doesn't get much attention in the Midwest/East. One of 3-4 coaches in the west to consider.
Pretty much every day, more names get floated that would likely be successful at IU... I strongly suspect 10 years from now, everyone will agree that Dolson "got this one right" He might not pick, or be able to land, the absolute BEST fit. But as you said, there are so many quality guys, that I think its more likely than not, whoever he lands will be our best coach since RMK.
Get us back to competing for B10 titles, and with a guy that runs a consistently good program...that's all IU needs.
