Anyone hear anything on Bryan Haines to Penn State?

What is ironic about this is the fact that LJ was right. The defense did a 180 after their bye week. Knowles to his credit made adjustments on how they used Caleb Downs and let LJ have his way with the DL.

Knowles is a weird guy. Not CTA weird but very reserved. From my understanding, he doesn’t leave his office or interact with staff. His players seem to like him though. He immediately turned OSU’s D around though. His first year did come with growing pains so I don’t expect Penn St’s D to become 2024 OSU D over night. They don’t have a Caleb Downs on their roster. (Well, not yet anyway, anything is possible with the portal).
The 2024 OSU was stacked with elite defensive talent ---- nine of those starters are expected to get drafted in the next NFL draft. Knowles will have talent at PSU but nowhere near what he had at OSU

Would be shocked if that hire isn't in-house. Mike Mickens is probably the club house leader for that gig.

Speaking of Notre Dame, an anonymous but highly accurate Twitter account is hinting that IU is in a good spot for two offensive lineman that recently started and transferred from ND; Rocco Spindler and Pat Coogan. Both are rated #1 and #3 IOL in the portal. Would be monumental to land both.

Wow......I saw those guys and were curious if we were interested...

Something may be brewing. Stay tuned.

This is a strange situation. Googan had 26 starts and Rocco Spindler had 23.....but both lost their starting jobs for periods of time to younger players. Still, however, they were rated as the #s 2&3 highest rated OL by Pro Football Focus. Googan, in particular, was a very aggressive verbal leader for ND....a "Domer Forever" type of guy.

2 other highly regarded OL reserves have also transferred----Sam Pendleton to TN, and Ty Chen (no school yet).

Rumors are that they are targeting Chris Ash, the former Rutgers HC, who is now an NFL DB coach??

Think that speaks to the depth and talent in ND's OL room. Spindler was one of the better rated recruits in the country coming out of high school but has had an injury plagued career. He visited this weekend and is set to visit Nebraska tomorrow. Think I read somewhere (maybe here) that Coogan's girlfriend is an IU student.

Need to work on recruiting the gfs of players we want :)

Nebraska board thinks he'll go to Nebraska or Michigan,

Coogan played LG last year for ND, and Center the previous year. With Katic gone C is open...........

Pretty sure he played C during most of 2024 after the original starter was injured versus p u... That's the what this article indicates:

He would seemingly be a perfect fit here (but I have no inside knowledge of Coach Bostads thoughts on the topic).

The 247 site likes him. Rates him as the #62 player in the portal, That would be 2nd highest for us after Mendoza.

Bryant signed his extension and raise offer … it was reported today.

Here's the article:

We may not be out of the woods yet...

He may end up getting Another reworking of his contract before this is all over...

Teams with deep pockets are lurking out there...😡

ND, OK Rutgers, "the o-h-i-o $$$t, and VT are all still looking for a D.C... (although it sounds like ND likes Ash)...

Edit: VT brought in the NFL Cardinals LB coach.

Sooo... we still have to look out for the worthless nuts, the Sooners, and Rut-gerrr.........

I watched Spindler lose in the state championship game to former Hoosier David Ellis and his Chippewa Valley team. Spindler was a monster though.

Well, this sucks. Coogan now said to visit Michigan Saturday with Spindler. They need OL. Burke had posted one of his "Great Day to be a Hoosier: tweets so I thought it was in the bag. False alarm.

We have a better shot at the playoffs than they do...(with a true Freshman QB)... I guess it just depends now on whether they're serious about playing for another Championship or not...
