We should open the year Top 10 for sure as we have a lot of talent coming back and we are adding some nice freshman. Also, we red shirted some excellent talent as well. We will definitely miss Soffner.....he was just awesome in the tourney this year and in the final games, he was more than just awesome !

The soccer net is framed with a PVC like piping that holds the net mouth open. Shots on goal are those that would be goals if not stopped by the goalie or hitting the frame. Teams can take a lot of shots that are not dangerous because they have no chance of going into the goal mouth a scoring. Scorekeeper keeps track of those kind of like they do in baseball for sacrifices, or declaring a grounder a hit or an error.

Michael Soderlund from Idaho played a little 2 seasons ago but was redshirted this year so he has 3 years left. Incoming freshman Colin Webb from California will compete for time.

I talked to one of the coaches a week or so ago.

He said we had another keeper on the roster who is just as good as Soffner, but since Soffner was the senior with experience, he got the nod.

He also said Zav probably has "one foot out the door" but we have a kid coming in that is going to be a GREAT goal scorer.

The coaches expected us to be good this year but really thought our national championship window would be next season and the year after. He said that everyone (meaning the coaches) really thought we had a national championship team this season when we let in the first goal against Notre Dame in the tournament, and came back and scored the equalizer right away.
