Yep I agree. It does look like he put a pretty good portal class together last spring and I recall Dolson being quoted as saying he wanted somebody who knew how to use the portal right away. So I guess that parts fits but the rest I dont know.
I know this is not a home run hire, but still guessing this guy can coach circles around Woodson. And we know he will outwork him.
This is where the IU program is these days, especially when squeaky clean is the standard. I would say Kentucky given where they've been the last 25 years compared to us took a bigger leap of faith with Pope than we did.
I think he can find success here. The RMK days are never coming back, but Devries can get us back to relevant.

Any PR person worth their salt isn't going to have a major announcement compete against a much larger announcement that will dominate the news cycle.

I think compared to the "iu insiders " who tried to get everyone to believe it was Stevens his sources are actually real and exist.
Cmon man, the only insiders that count are Scott and Pam.
He did or had sort of business that did the weird, flamethrower dragons flying to the moon graphics for recruits when they announced on Twitter/Instagram. So he had info before it was announced. That's all I know.
I'd be so excited I'd have to immediately take a nap and wake up hoping it was all a bad dream.
He's largely been wrong in all IU recruiting predictions, outside Sisley.

I am waiting until Osterman or Thamel tweet the selection. Until then, I will hold out hope that IU got someone actually qualified for the job.

It could be tomorrow, but otherwise, agree with you completely. They might drop it on Saturday during the tournament as it's a talking point for all of the talking heads, but it's going to get washed-out quickly.
I watched his introductory PC from when he was hired at WV. Imo, it was not an impressive performance.
Why bother hiring this guy now? He's not there in two weeks? Not that we want the tourney flavor of the year.... But still.
