And Woodson might land on his feet

Pretty obvious the NBA is a much better fit for him. I'll say that I don't think he's probably a guy that relates even with NBA players of today though. While they are all "pros", the NBA isn't immune to all the changes in how you have to coach and manage these young men's games, development, egos, careers... And Woodson was absolutely AWFUL at many of those things at Indiana.

Hopefully Sactown is paying him a lot, that'll reduce the buyout amount!

I was a little worried how he'd get by in retirement. (sarc is only from the 'land on his feet' comment)

Congrats though to Coach Woodson.

I loved him as a player, and know he wanted to bring the program back just isn't in that mold. No scandals.

Great player for IU. I hope he still has a place in his heart for IU. He is gone but for some reason you still need to bash him . Posts like this are useless. Please move on.>
I have moved on I did not start the thread and I can bash who I want. Should I tell others not to bash sampson or chris beard? Too bad you do not like my comment but you certainly do not need to respond either.

Yes you can bash who you want. Especially if it makes you feel good.

I am honestly surprised he wants to keep working, at his age I'd just enjoy the wine, cigars, and golf course. But not my life, so not my concern. Good luck to him, I didn't like him as a coach but always liked him as a player and I do think he wanted the best for IU but his inexperience at the college level and refusal to ask for or accept help just didn't work for him.

Couldn’t have said it any better. Well put.

Except I’d ditch the wine and hit the bourbon. But…to each their own

I would be stunned if he took another job. I actually think this is fake news.

I realize it was actual news, but that’s all he wanted out of this. Let it be known!!!

315-365 record in the NBA. He’s not worth a damn in any league as a coach.

Perfect, glad he was able to land on his feet after only getting paid $20M to finish 2 games over .500 in the last 4 yrs in conference. Would hate to find out he can't make payments on the body shop
My entire life I’ve been looking for a job where I could fail upward. Hate to admit it, but I for one am jealous.

Most NBA teams have some 30-something year old players who can haze the rookies until they get their heads out of their asses and realize that they are pros and this is a job now.

Funny how his history repeats itself. Last season with the Knicks he had very high player salaries (second. In NBA) and didn’t make the playoffs. Flash forward. Last season at IU very high player salaries and didn’t make the tournament. Knowing his history it played out just as I feared it would preseason.
