And in other news, Daniel Penny found not guilty.

And, of course, critics are calling the country racist and there have been threats of violence.
A white man can shoot an unarmed black person(woman) with no repercussion. Yes, its racist we have a 2 tier system of justice. This is America nothing changes and it's not the first time.

Some people choose to live in a shithole region of the country and then draw the conclusion that the whole nation is like their local dungheap.
We on ignore nerd? Stfu. It’s exactly the same where you live. Riviera beach. West palm. You’re just too stupid to recognize it or just willfully ignorant. Cityplace clematis. West palm is no different. Downtown at 10 at night. You’re our resident squad poster

It’s actually worse where you are. On top of the black crime you can add in the endless drug addicts

So here's the dealio. What I meant by saying dismissing the wokesters is just as bad as blindly following them is this: the problem of black crime is a complicated one, and as you already said, if we're going to talk about it, it should be with the goal of doing something about it in mind. The woke left who wants to boil everything down to "this is all the result of something America did to black people" doesn't help. But neither does "it all comes down to personal responsibility." We need to address all sorts of things. For example, blacks tend to be both urban and poor at a higher rate than other folks. Well, urban and poor both correlate with crime. Blacks also have a higher incidence of one-parent homes, for various reasons. That also correlates with crime. And we have to attack all these things from multiple angles. Take the lack of black father figures. It's not wrong to say that black culture needs to change to put a stronger emphasis on family responsibility, especially among young men. But it's also not wrong to point out that it doesn't help to incarcerate so many black dads. Hard to not be an absent father when you are in prison.

I'd say the NYC transit system needs a Daniel Penny riding in every subway car and on every bus.
harold ford on tv crying right now......"democrat or republican, we have to fix this, people can't just stand by and take pictures while stuff like this happens. the subway is the life of NY" .....blah, blah, blah. and all while the corrupt NYC lawyers prosecute a guy like Daniel Penny

give me a ____ing break

MM66, thanks for bringing the Guardian Angels into this discussion.

The Guardian Angels are a world wide group of diverse membership in terms of race and religion who carefully avoid vigilantism.
They were created to combat violence on the nyc subway. Koch initially opposed them. Rudy supported them. Rudy was also instrumental in cleaning up nyc through a broad coalition of groups from neighborhood groups to nonprofits to businesses

“Broken windows” policy worked.

Rudy used the Broken Windows theory as did many cities including Indianapolis which focused on neighborhood. crime watch groups.

My neighborhood had one and won an award connected with the Sheriff's Night Out program.

Was a big fan of the Broken Windows theory when it was popular and still am.

Our neighborhood Crime Watch was more about neighbors staying alert and looking out for each other along with reporting suspicious behavior than taking action against perps personally.

I'll just say this...if one of my loved ones ever crossed paths with a Jordan Neely or worse, a Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, I pray there is a Daniel Penny there and not some douchebag with a camera filming the shit. The social contract in most inner cities has been broken, the authority has abdicated it's responsibility and the average person on the street looks the other way doing everything they can to not get involved.

When your wife tried to push your buttons and throws out your steak, she is affecting (touching your emotions) you. The result of that--you losing your house to her--is the effect (a consequence of her action) of that.

Got it?
56 yrs that this has been affecting me. Your explanation effectively answered my question. right?

a few observations. I agree with you in principle. That said these are the same issues that were broached when i was in grad school 25 years ago. and probably the same as during the civil rights enactments. i'm growing more jaded with every decade as it seems to be rinse repeat. at this point i'm of the opinion that it's culture, enabling behavior, lack of personal responsibility, and ineptitude of those charged with making things better. pick a black community and it's leaders more often than not will be dumber than shit. cori bush. a derelict finger-pointing progressive mayor. social workers without an ounce of sense. how much money has been thrown at urban public schools with shitty results. how much money in welfare. to what end.

and what is hte culture. if there's an issue oprah is at the forefront. lebron is celebrated. my buddy and old office landlord was the personal attorney to david steward. back when david was getting cars repoed and my buddy stopped bothering to even send him invoices. he was a dog tho. partnered up with a soccer legend and used his race to procure gov contracts. get loans. there's great benefit to being black if you know how to work the system. why don't we celebrate that and teach that. why is it always defund police, bail projects, race-baiting from the squad. i know they're stupid but do they lack all sense of awareness. david is a republican. the richest black man in america is a republican. a republican who serves on all the boards that try to help but damn that speaks volumes. go to any black community school in america and i bet you 100 out of 100 kids don't know him. never heard of him. and he's nothing short of amazing
