Smith... he'll get a chance. It'll be a big story. He won't get drafted, but will get picked up. His summer league games will be fun. You guys will be sooo excited. And he won't make an NBA roster. Guys like Jimmer Fredette, who have much more size and physicality, never made it. The smaller guys that have carved a niche for themselves, are almost universally defensive studs, that are also skilled with the ball. Smith can't guard an NBA chair.
Mayer... if what you've "read" has any merit, Painter would be wise to play him, A LOT, over guys like Loyer, Harris, etc... he won't. Mayer will end up looking like a skilled foreign guy when he gets his minutes, I'm sure.
Jacobson... he's the one I was referring to.
Kluff is a lumbering oaf, and the one I'm referring to. And while this isn't relevant to this particular discussion, playing him alongside TKR will end up being one of Purdue's fatal flaws, with respect to being a Natty contender.
Murphy... nice reach... no... not even close. He was a sub 35% shooter before this past season. He's not big enough, athletic enough, good enough, or even a good enough shooter, to be a 3 and D forward in the NBA.
This conversation is about a potential NBA level prospect choosing Purdue over Kentucky, or even IU. I don't think that happens if either school gets heavily involved. Might be a moot point anyways, Illinois still seems like the favorite. I suspect they're trying to boost NIL values with IU, Kentucky, Louisville visits. But if those 3 do become seriously interested, then one of those 3 will get him.
