Yea, it’s pretty cool and I think it should happen.
A lot of Bison in these schedule promo drops by IU football. Let's bring back the bison 🦬
Not a fan of the fact that (as of right now) the 3 biggest games on the schedule are all away games. Our non-con schedule is a joke, so I guess its a good thing Oregon, P St, and Iowa are all away so noone can say we didn't play in any hostile environments.
Agreed, and UCLA, too. Well, hopefully IU can beat all 3 of them again next season.Seems strange to play Maryland and msu again?
Please, no self-imposed limitations for the NEW INDIANA!I doubt next year will result in a playoff appearance unless the portal haul is incredible. 8-9 wins would be OK.
Those sorts of details could change when TV gets involved. Same thing in terms of that Labor Day weekend game could move to Thurs or Fri if TV decides. No Friday Night Game from the looks of the schedule. I like that aspect.
A real bison would stomp that kitty cat, one on one.
Well, if we have a strong year and finish 9-3 with those as the 3 losses, at least we'll have Nick Saban campaigning for us to get into the playoff. Not a fan of the fact that (as of right now) the 3 biggest games on the schedule are all away games. They cannot and won’t do this. They make the conference schedules out 4-5 years in advance to make sure that all teams get to play each other now in the division less conference. We play Michigan and OSU again in 2026 and pick up Minnesota and USC and Rutgers. 2028 we go back to what looks like the 2025 schedule again. Here is my idea on how the conference should handle scheduling. Establish tiers and schedule teams based on their tier level. With 18 teams they could divide into 3 even tiers of 6 teams (high, mid, low). Your baseline is set based on prior years performance and no team can advance or fall more than one tier a year. So for example, for Iu since we came off a bad season and just finished a great season we would go from a low tier baseline to mid tier next year. Since we play 9 games (which means at least 4 extra games outside your other 5 opponents in your tier), rivalry games remain protected and any other games outside your tier are scheduled no more than one tier level higher or lower (unless a protected rivalry). Mid tier crossover games whether up or down is based on average wins over last 5 years. Consistently good but not great teams would have crossover games with the high tier, and those that just advanced or just aren’t consistently good will crossover with low tier
I mean this is simple enough that you could create better matchups every year and not punish the teams that are building or just not ever any good with having to play osu, Oregon, psu, and UM all in the same season when you didn’t even make a bowl game the year prior. Teams like Oregon, OSu, PSU, and UM who are traditionally the top teams will have no argument against them at CFP time that they play the best and creates more marquee matchups that will generate revenue for the conference. Osu may be the only team that faced the best the B1G has to offer this season although in this scenario they probably wouldn’t have played Indiana this past year or likely even next year.
They’re making up for 10 years worth of Big 10 West schedules. 😉Just glad we dont have Wisconsin’s schedule - woof
They don’t have to though which is my point. We obviously didn’t know we were playing UCLA or Washington before the merge was announced. So, there is obviously some flexibility with scheduling. Also, I don’t “expect” they would ever do it, but I just think it would yield better matchups and keep the best teams playing. I don’t see the importance of having to play everyone in conference over a 4-5 year period. That’s their way of trying to balance competition. They cannot and won’t do this. Future OOC opponents we are locked into right now include Colorado State, UConn, Virginia, UMASS, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, WKU and Notre Dane.
