If YOU were forced to decide....

...which three players on the current roster had to go to make room for the new recruits, which would you choose? For this exercise, assume every player, including TJD wants to come back to school for one more year. (My three are in bold)

Xavier@IU, Game 4: IU loses the game and the series, 13-7...

In the 1st, Xaiver chased IU starter Ryan Kraft after he went 0.2 IP as he had control problems giving up 2 hits and four ERs with 3 BB and a WP and a K. He also hit two batters. Grant Holderfield came out of the bullpen to get the final out. At least this happened early and there are plenty of innings to come back in and we have hit Xavier pitching hard today so far.

IU went down in order in the the B1st.

Geronimo Works to Get Better - Do All IU Players Have The Same Work Ethic?

In an article today, there is this quote:

"Strength coach Clif Marshall tweeted in August 2021 that Geronimo had gained 22 pounds in the last year.
Geronimo works out with trainer Isaac Green every time he’s in the gym. Green keeps him motivated, telling him to go hard every single time, Geronimo says. So, he keeps at it.

“This program is really good at building their players up,” Geronimo said."

Geronimo has the kind of work ethic needed to succeed at the major college level. While I don't know if all of the scholarship players work this hard or don't, do we see anything that would indicate Lander has the same work ethic? Lander has had two years to get there and isn't close. A guy who came out of high school with the ratings and presumed skill set Lander had just hasn't shown anything. Why?

When Woodson looks at his roster, he needs to objectively determine if he has players with that work ethic and if not, encourage them to go elsewhere. The culture needs to support that as well. Anyone remember what Baylor players looked like when they won the national championship? Bates needs to get there too. Woodson said Duncomb needed weight and strength. The culture needs to be there to get players physically developed while at the same time developing shot making skills.

WBB - Hoosiers vs Princeton, NCAA round 2, 8 PM, ESPNU

The Hoosier women's squad continues their tournament run tonight with a 2nd round home game vs Princeton. Tip time is 8 PM with ESPNU covering the game. Tickets are available and students are admitted free.

The Hoosiers took care of business in their opening round game on Saturday, throttling CUSA champ Charlotte 85-51. 11-seed Princeton denied the IU faithful a chance so see an IU/UK matchup as they shocked the Wildcats on Saturday, 69-62.

Princeton may be one of the more under-seeded teams in the tournament. The Tigers have a 25-4 record, including a perfect conference record in the Ivy League. They finished the year #22 in the NCAA NET ratings and #25 in the AP Poll. Like the entire Ivy League, Princeton did not play in the 20-21 season, but finished the 19-20 campaign with a 26-1 record before the COVID shutdown hit.

The women's tournament is shaking its reputation of being a cakewalk for the top seeds a bit. Two 2-seeds lost to their 10-seed opponents yesterday with Iowa losing to Creighton and Baylor falling to South Dakota.

Whatever the outcome, tonight's game will the final home game for a handful of Hoosiers. Ali Patberg and Nicole Cardano-Hillary finish out their Assembly Hall careers tonight. Aleksa Gulbe and Grace Waggoner have also announced their intention to forego remaining eligibility after this season.

Xavier@IU, Game 3: IU bats were hot in a 13-3 win...

IU, which struggled to get a hit early on in the first two games of the series, has 11 hits through the first four innings. Both Whalen and Mathison have hit 2-run homers each, and Whalen has 3 RBIs on the game so far. Bradley Brehmer is on the mound and has given up 6 hits and one ER so far, with 3Ks and he has hit a batter. IU has scored in every innings so far with four runs each in the 2nd and 4th innings. IU hit the Xavier starter hard and they went to the bullpen for IU's 4th, and IU hit the reliever hard also. Xavier also has three errors on the game so far.

Big day for the B10 today

8 NCAA games, including

OSU
IL
WIS
PU
MSU

I was disappointed to see MI advance, and just playing the odds some of these 5 will move on. It won’t make me happy.

Misery loves company?

I have friends that went to each of these schools, and maybe that plays into it. I live in a big metropolitan area, which is loaded with B10 grads. Everywhere I turn I see car stickers, sweatshirts, hats, etc from all of these schools. Probably the one school of these that seems (to me) the least represented is PU. Maybe it’s the ugly colors? In fact, I only know 1 person that went to PU and he doesn’t follow sports, he’s just an engineer/ nerd/musician.

I’m rooting against the Big today, but strangely enough the least of the evils seems to be the Boilers……at least to me . Maybe it’s the “get off my lawn” attitude but I find it much easier to root against a team when I’m surrounded by their fans.
