Last Chance U: Basketball

I binge watched it on Netflix this weekend. Players from the hood who are looking for a second chance to get to a division 1 School. These kids have an incredible amount of baggage.

.The kids academics are marginal at best and they're never going to be playing in the NBA and most likely never playing overseas. But I found myself cheering for the individual players and coaches both on and off the court.

Don't give up after the first couple of episodes.
It's a story about personal growth as much as it is about basketball. You are most likely going to need to have some patience before you begin to enjoy the season.

SI Ink on McFadden makes Fort Worth Star Telegram

It must be a real slow sports news day for a Dallas Cowboy local market organ to post an SI piece on NY Giants 5th round draft choice, Micah McFadden.

"Being overlooked," McFadden said. "It makes you want to play even more, and it makes you want to go harder."

Then again Coverdale had a couple good years for the ‘Pokes.

Buttigieg & Biden on Gas Prices

Mr Buttigieg says gas prices are out of a political leaders control.

It’s Covid and Purim’s fault, I guess. What might be if Biden had his pen taken away his first day in office.

Chicago Teachers Vote Against In-Person Learning. Mayor: Defies ‘Common Sense’

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot speaks in front of a blue background.
Back in school for just two days, Chicago officials canceled classes Wednesday after almost three-fourths of teachers union members voted in favor of returning to remote learning.
The union said the break from in-person school would last two weeks, unless positive COVID-19 cases declined or an agreement was reached over safety precautions.
“We believe that our city’s classrooms are where our students should be,” said the union’s statement. “Regrettably, the mayor and her [Chicago Public Schools] leadership have put the safety and vibrancy of our students and their educators in jeopardy.”

But the district called the vote a work stoppage and said teachers would lose pay if they don’t show up on Wednesday. Parents were told to expect an update on how their children would continue learning by the end of the day.
“To be clear, what CTU is seeking cannot be counted as an instructional day under state law and guidance,” the district said in a statement.

As districts nationally try to contain further outbreaks due to the Omicron variant, and parents once again scramble to adjust to abrupt shifts to remote learning, the standoff between the district and the union is a major test for CEO Pedro Martinez, who took over leadership of the district in late September. On Tuesday, he appealed to the union and the community, calling for a plan triggering school closures that better “represents the times that we’re in” and reflects that vaccines are now available for staff and students. He argues that cases increase when students are out of school and that closing schools would only increase community spread. Mayor Lori Lightfoot said during a Tuesday night press conference that returning to remote learning would “harm hundreds of thousands of Chicago families.”

Congratulations biden voters

It has only been 17 months since he has taken office and he has managed to drop the market below 30,000. His administration has managed to destroy almost everything in the economy and the world order. So educate me, tell me why we are better off today than we were in 2017, 18 and 19 with the trump administration. Leave the democracy crap out of your discussion, the same could made against biden.
